How long is the Brighton model going to continue in this fashion? If they do continue over the next few cycles to retain players, at what point do we start asking the question of when are they going to compete for a trophy? In order to do that you need a core group of players that are together for a long period of time.

Paul: It wouldn't surprise me if Oliver Glasner walks. You could see he was angry in the post match press conference.

Oliver Glasner is mostly sanguine in his programme notes today about the issues with squad depth he faces with Crystal Palace this season - describing the issue of preparing for matches on Thursday and Sunday as "a nice problem to have".

But there is a telling paragraph towards the end when he welcomes the visitors to Selhurst Park today.

"They've made some changes to their squad this summer, but we can't influence the approach of the opposition".

How much would Glasner have liked to have made more changes to his team this summer.

I don't like how generic the inside of the new Everton stadium looks, it's Blue Tottenham. The character of old stadiums just isn't there. I feel that way with the Emirates 20 years after leaving Highbury.

Nuno's stock is so high with the fanbase, they will want to fully believe in him. But it is also so awkward for them because they will be grateful for what the owner has done for the club in the last few years.

Brighton boss Fabian Hurzeler: "The atmosphere at Goodison Park was a special atmosphere and we are looking forward to seeing the new stadium, but we are not there to be the nice club.

"David Moyes' teams are always very organised and difficult to create chances against. You have to be awake all of the time. Jack Grealish is a great signing and I'm sure he will help Everton, he is an unbelievable talent."

In the 92/93 season, Palace sold their best player (Ian Wright) to Arsenal. Our last game was against them and they relegated us. Our last game this season is against Arsenal... new signings needed this week to stop history repeating itself.

Crystal Palace v Nottingham Forest (14:00 BST)

    Emma Smith
    BBC Sport at Selhurst Park

It has been a tricky transfer window for Palace. They have signed just two senior players - left-back Borna Sosa and back-up keeper Walter Benitez - and this week lost key midfielder Ebere Eze to Arsenal.

Palace fans spoke to BBC's Aaron Paul earlier, and are trying to put a positive spin on things.

"It's not a one man club," says Harry. "We have a lot of good players, we just need to fill the gap in midfield."

Leigh meanwhile only wishes Eze the best, but is worried about the future of the Palace manager if a replacement is not signed.

"It has been a bit sad to see Eze leave, but he is a quality player," she said. "His dream was to go back to Arsenal, and Palace have put him in that position.

"Oliver Glasner has done the utmost he can do. If he doesn't have backing, how long he will stay, who knows?"

Fan reaction: Crystal Palace will play Conference League this season

It's 99 days since the greatest day in Crystal Palace's history.

After victory over Manchester City in the FA Cup final - Palace's first major trophy - boss Oliver Glasner started planning for the Europa League.

However, the Eagles were demoted to the Conference League over issues surrounding multi-club ownership, with Nottingham Forest taking their place in Uefa's second-tier competition.

That should make today's game at Selhurst Park between the two clubs extra spicy.

Sunshine on the banks of the River Mersey and Everton fans enjoying every second of the experience at their magnificent new stadium.

It is a spectacular modern arena, but it is the result that matter on this historic day for Everton, and they will have to play a whole lot better than they did in defeat at Leeds United to give Hill Dickinson Stadium a winning Premier League start.

And to that end, both Jack Grealish and young French striker Thierno Barry make their first Premier League starts for Everton.

Everyone in the stadium today is going to have a great view, there's so many positives, but you've still got to win football matches. That is going to be the big challenge for David Moyes because there are weaknesses everywhere.

Everyone you talk to says that they need a central midfielder, a full-back etcetera, most think they need three or four more players. It certainly does not feel like a finished squad.

Gavin: This shows everything about who Marinakis is. The manager who got Forest back into the Premier League - fired with barely a thank you. Now, Nuno, who produced the best season this club has had in nearly 30 years, is being sidelined because apparently the owner cannot sustain a relationship with another person. It's a disgrace.

Nottingham Forest boss Nuno Espirito Santo, asked by Sky Sports if he is manipulating a move away from the club: "That's nonsense. Doesn't make any kind of sense. We are focused on the game and that is more important.

"Make sure that the players are ready. This game is going to be very tough."

On wanting to be Forest's manager: "Of course! Of course."

On having a discussion with owner, Evangelos Marinakis, and Global Head of Football, Edu, on Forest's transfer plans: "Yes, that's what we need to do and we're going to do it."

On the speculation: "There is no speculation around anything. What we have to do is communicate and approach the final days of the market and prepare our boys."

Since Crystal Palace's 0-0 draw at Chelsea on the opening weekend of the season, Eberechi Eze has joined Arsenal while Liverpool want defender Marc Guehi before the 1 September transfer deadline.

Palace have spent just £2m since winning the FA Cup and boss Oliver Glasner has made it crystal clear he wants more signings this week.
