Why is Jose Sa rushing out like that? Toti Gomes is running across and Rodrigo Muniz still has a lot to do. Sa makes his mind up for him. It is ridiculous.

Southampton won’t play a more fraigile, toothless team. They need to make the most of the opportunity and take all three points tonight

Just as at the start of the first half, Fulham make an instant impact.

After only 64 seconds of the second half, Rodrigo Muniz flicks a lovely finish past Jose Sa, after chasing on to a perfectly-weighted through ball from Adama Traore.

Quite a lot is said about offsides nowadays, but the argument of whether it is an advantage or not is irrelevant in my opinion. If someone is in an offside position, regardless of if it’s by a centimetre or a foot, they’re offside. Personally, I would much rather they just pick a common reference point on the body (such as the foot closest to the goal). No more having to judge different body parts and work out if they’re in line with each other.

Southampton have created the first real chance for Paul Onuachu and have actually looked more dangerous than Chelsea in the opening stages.

This is not the start manager Enzo Maresca will have wanted from his team as he urges fans to stick together and tries to encourage supporters to improve the atmosphere at Stamford Bridge.

  11. Goalkeeper drama at half timepublished at 20:32 Greenwich Mean Time 25 February

    Crystal Palace 1-0 Aston Villa

    Alex Howell
BBC football news reporter at Selhurst Park

Some fun at Selhurst Park at half time.

Usually children come onto the pitch to take penalties against the Palace mascot.

However, the Villa sub goalkeepers won't move so the challenge can take place so the announcer and the kids have had to walk the full length of the pitch to take the penalties at the other end of the ground.

Sancho offers nothing more than most of Chelsea’s lightweight, inconsistent wingers. Which, to be fair, is also nothing. Please don’t buy.

Paul Onuachu was well entitled to hit it. The weight of pass from Will Smallbone was good and Onuachu was onside.

Levi Colwill loses the ball in his own half and Southampton break quickly to find Paul Onuachu at an angle in the box. He hammers an effort high and wide. Not the best.

  16. Bad signs for Bournemouthpublished at 20:29 Greenwich Mean Time 25 February

    HT: Brighton 1-0 Bournemouth

Brighton are unbeaten in their last 25 home Premier League games in which they have led at half time (won 18, drawn seven) since a 2-1 loss to Leicester City in March 2021.

Palace fan here. Villa deserve to be level, they've been the better side in the first half. I like that we are physical but we are a bit too erratic; we're making mistakes or giving away fouls. Villa will even things up if we don't tighten things up.
