  5. goal

GOAL: Sheff Wed 0-3 Stokepublished at 16:31 British Summer Time 16 August

    Million Manhoef (69 mins)

Sheffield Wednesday are sinking to another defeat. Stoke are feeling a million dollars.

Sorba Thomas gets away again down the right and he provides the cross for Million Manhoef to slot home.

Two for Manhoef, three points for Stoke and they are going to set the (very, very) early pace in the Championship.

  6. 'Leicester have a firm foot in the game'published at 16:30 British Summer Time 16 August

    Preston 1-1 Leicester

    Steve Howard
Former Leicester striker on BBC Radio Leicester

This is hanging in the balance now.

Leicester have got a firm foot on the game and are making things happen.

They need to keep the urgency and momentum and they will get the second goal.

  7. goal

  8. GREAT SAVE!published at 16:29 British Summer Time 16 August

    Sheff Wed 0-2 Stoke

More brilliance from Super Swede Viktor Johansson in the Stoke goal.

Barry Bannan with the acrobatic effort and the Owls skipper watches Johansson push it round the post.

  9. Postpublished at 16:27 British Summer Time 16 August

    Watford 2-1 QPR

Watford still lead, but Rangers have been getting closer to an equaliser.

Ilias Chair's distance effort brought a save from Egil Selvik and more recently Kader Dembele supplied a chance that Sam Field could only head off target.

Stating the obvious perhaps, but the next goal looks crucial in this one.

  10. 'The intent is there'published at 16:27 British Summer Time 16 August

    Blackburn 1-0 Birmingham

    Ian Clarkson
Ex-Birmingham captain on BBC Radio WM

It's far better from Blues, the intent is there.

It's almost taken Blackburn to score for Birmingham to start playing.

  11. goal

GOAL Preston 1-1 Leicesterpublished at 16:27 British Summer Time 16 August

    Jeremy Monga (67 mins)

Brilliant from Daniel Iversen in the Preston goal to deny Abdul Fatawu but just seconds later Leicester are level and it's the teenager Jeremy Monga!

He's only 16 years of age and became Leicester's youngest starter in midweek well now he has a goal.

Monga gets himself into the box and with a right-foot shot beats Iversen.

I don't know what you were doing at the age of 16 but I doubt it was scoring in the EFL!

  12. HITS THE WOODWORKpublished at 16:26 British Summer Time 16 August

    Millwall 0-1 Middlesbrough

Millwall and Josh Coburn have come so close to an equaliser.

Coburn's diving header beats Sol Brynn, but hits both posts and does not go in.

    How close can you get?

  13. Postpublished at 16:24 British Summer Time 16 August

    Blackburn 1-0 Birmingham

Back come Blackburn after that Tomoki Iwata effort for the visitors.

It's a brilliant move and Augustus Kargbo finishes it by heading just wide.

This one took a long while to get going but we're enjoying it now.

  14. Postpublished at 16:24 British Summer Time 16 August

    Sheff Wed 0-2 Stoke

There is a reason why Viktor Johansson is one of the best goalkeepers in the Championship and he has just demonstrated that perfectly.

Two big saves to deny Svante Ingelsson and Liam Palmer from pulling one back.

  15. HITS THE WOODWORKpublished at 16:23 British Summer Time 16 August

    Bristol City 0-0 Charlton

OK, that's one apiece. Not goals - but interventions by the woodwork.

This time it's Charlton who go agonisingly close as the ball deflects off City's George Tanner but Radek Vitek comes to his side's rescue, scrambling to tip onto the post.

    Somehow, it's still 0-0!

  16. Postpublished at 16:23 British Summer Time 16 August

    Blackburn 1-0 Birmingham

Birmingham are just cranking things up as they chase a leveller.

Tomoki Iwata has an effort saved by Balazs Toth.

  17. Postpublished at 16:22 British Summer Time 16 August

    Millwall 0-1 Middlesbrough

We thought it was a long time since Stoke last began with two wins. That was in 2007.

Middlesbrough have not won their first two games of a season since Bryan Robson's first season in charge. That was all the way back in 1994.

But it did end in promotion.

  18. 'All passing and no punch'published at 16:21 British Summer Time 16 August

    Swansea 0-0 Sheff Utd

    Dafydd Pritchard
BBC Sport Wales at the Swansea.com Stadium

A familiar tale for Swansea so far of plentiful possession but limited threat in attack.

They only scored 51 goals in 46 Championship matches last season, and they've yet to find the net 150 minutes into this campaign.

  19. 'Preston are dictating'published at 16:19 British Summer Time 16 August

    Preston 1-0 Leicester

    Steve Howard
Former Leicester striker on BBC Radio Leicester

Preston North End's Ali McCann (right) and Leicester City’s Jordan Ayew battle for the ballImage source, PA Media

The changes will help Leicester to shape up a bit.

They need to get a hold of the ball, they're not doing enough with it, the midfield have to dictate.

At the moment, Preston are dictating.

  20. Postpublished at 16:19 British Summer Time 16 August

    Blackburn 1-0 Birmingham

    Oh a chance for Birmingham.

Ethan Laird is very close in for the visitors but his header flashes over the bar.
