    Bristol City 0-0 Charlton

The home side are getting closer as Anis Mehmeti works the ball onto his left foot and strikes - but the post prevents him from registering his second goal in as many games.

Both sides are ringing the changes now, with Mark Sykes and Max Bird on for City and Charlton introducing Miles Leaburn in place of Charlie Kelman.

  2. SUBSTITUTIONSpublished at 16:17 British Summer Time 16 August

    Preston 1-0 Leicester

    A double change for Leicester.

Jeremy Monga and Wout Faes are on.

Off go Luke Thomas and Stephy Mavididi.

Sixteen-year-old Monga became Leicester's youngest starter in the cup in midweek.

  3. Postpublished at 16:17 British Summer Time 16 August

    Swansea 0-0 Sheff Utd

Early pressure from the hosts at the start of this second half as Josh Key and Cameron Burgess have shots blocked from Josh Tymon's free-kick.

The Blades look like 'defence' has been the watchword on the training ground this week.

  4. Postpublished at 16:13 British Summer Time 16 August

    Preston 1-0 Leicester

Preston have started this second period really well and are pushing for a second goal.

Milutin Osmajic is just off target before Michael Smith is inches wide.

Leicester are walking the tightrope here.

  5. Postpublished at 16:13 British Summer Time 16 August

    Bristol City 0-0 Charlton

Chances at both ends as we still await the opening goal.

City's Emil Riis has an attempt kept out by Thomas Kaminski then, almost immediately, Charlton break and Sonny Carey sets up Rob Apter, whose drive is repelled by Radek Vitek.

Who can find that bit of magic to unlock the door?

  6. 'It's against the run of play'published at 16:13 British Summer Time 16 August

    Blackburn 1-0 Birmingham

    Richard Wilford
    BBC Radio WM commentator

It's against the run of play.

    Blackburn have made it count.

  7. Potters pounce againpublished at 16:13 British Summer Time 16 August

    Sheff Wed 0-2 Stoke

    Ian Woodcock
    BBC Sport at Hillsborough

"We are top of the league" is the chant from the away end.

Just as in the first half their side has scored in the first minute of this half and it is a long, long way back for Wednesday now.

Stoke on course to win their first two league games in a row for the first time since 2007-08. That season ended in promotion to the Premier League...

  8. goal

GOAL: Millwall 0-1 Middlesbroughpublished at 16:11 British Summer Time 16 August

    Hayden Hackney (49 mins)

Middlesbrough's main man Hayden Hackney has the visitors in front.

Good play from newcomer Sontje Hansen, on for his debut as a half-time substitute for Abdoulaye Kante, and Morgan Whittaker and it's from Whittaker's cross that Hackney steers it into the net via the post.

A first Boro goal since February for the in-demand Hackney.

  9. 'You can see the intent'published at 16:10 British Summer Time 16 August

    Sheff Wed 0-2 Stoke

    Andy Quy
    BBC Radio Stoke summariser

We spoke at half-time about getting him more involved and he's straight back into the game now.

You can see the intent of Stoke now, they need to keep the pressure on.

    It was a great header.

  10. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 16:10 British Summer Time 16 August

    Watford 2-1 QPR

A change by Julien Stephan at the break as Rangers aim to build on the lifeline of that stoppage-time strike by Kieran Morgan.

Rayan Kolli is on to replace Paul Smyth out wide, but you'd think new signing Richard Kone will surely make his QPR debut at some point if they continue to trail.

  11. goal

GOAL Blackburn 1-0 Birminghampublished at 16:10 British Summer Time 16 August

    Todd Cantwell (50 mins)

    The stand-in skipper strikes!

Birmingham fail to clear a corner and Todd Cantwell volleys in superbly.

Just his fourth goal for the club.

  12. Postpublished at 16:08 British Summer Time 16 August

    Preston 1-0 Leicester

Preston skipper Ben Whiteman has a crack at goal with a free kick but it's not troubling Jakub Stolarczyk.

  13. goal

GOAL: Sheff Wed 0-2 Stokepublished at 16:08 British Summer Time 16 August

    Divin Mubama (46 mins)

We said Sheffield Wednesday were still just about in things at the break.

Not sure that's the case now...

Sorba Thomas beats Pierce Charles to a long ball from Ben Wilmot and clips the ball over where Divin Mubama is there to head in from close range.

Two in two for Mubama on loan from Manchester City.

  14. 'From a Blues perspective it's comfortable'published at 16:07 British Summer Time 16 August

    Blackburn 0-0 Birmingham

    Ian Clarkson
Ex-Birmingham captain on BBC Radio WM

Blues have been fairly dominant in possession and they will want to keep that up.

From a Blues perspective it's been very comfortable, I can use last seasons's perspective where they started well then it petered out.

I don't think Blackburn can be quite as impotent this half.

  15. Postpublished at 16:07 British Summer Time 16 August

    Blackburn 0-0 Birmingham

Alex Cochrane has been substituted at the break by Birmimgham.

Ethan Laird - who was excellent in the EFL Cup in midweek against Sheffield United - is thrown into the fray.

  16. Postpublished at 16:05 British Summer Time 16 August

    Preston 1-0 Leicester

Leicester have made a change at the break with Patson Daka replacing Bilal El Khannouss.

    They need a goal.

  17. KICK-OFFpublished at 16:03 British Summer Time 16 August

Right, a quick rub down from the physio, an energy drink (well something like that anyway) and we're off again...

  18. 'Can't fault the Owls players'published at 15:57 British Summer Time 16 August

    HT: Sheff Wed 0-1 Stoke

    Ian Woodcock
    BBC Sport at Hillsborough

Despite being a goal down at the break the home fans gave their side a huge round of applause as they headed back down the tunnel.

Things looked bleak when the Potters scored through Million Manhoef inside the opening minute, as the home fans whistled in protest of Dejphon Chansiri's ownership.

Thereafter Stoke have had the better of things but the Owls have threatened and while there's only one goal in it, they're firmly in this game.

For all the problems at the top of this club, you certainly can't fault the effort of any of the people out on the pitch in a blue and white shirt.

  19. HALF-TIMEpublished at 15:55 British Summer Time 16 August

    Watford 2-1 QPR

It was all going swimmingly for Watford after that quickfire double from Luca Kjerrumgaard - but Kieran Morgan's injury-time strike has given Rangers something to cling to ahead of the second half.
