  1. HITS THE WOODWORKpublished at 15:33 BST 16 August

    Sheff Wed 0-1 Stoke

So close to a second Potters goal and I'm not sure the Owls would be coming back from that.

On-loan Manchester City forward Divin Mubama dinks one over Pierce Charles, but his effort is cleared off the line by Owls veteran Liam Palmer.

The rebound falls to Lewis Baker, who cracks the woodwork from well outside the area.

  2. YELLOW CARDpublished at 15:32 BST 16 August

    Blackburn 0-0 Birmingham

That's a bit silly from Bright Osayi-Samuel as he prevents Blackburn taking a quick throw and it's a simple yellow card dished out by Oliver Langford.

  3. Postpublished at 15:31 BST 16 August

    Bristol City 0-0 Charlton

Emil Riis scored in his last Championship game at Ashton Gate - that was as a Preston player in the final game of last season.

Now the Dane is wearing a Bristol City shirt and hoping to open his account for his new club, but he's been denied by a timely block from Lloyd Jones.

At the other end, Sonny Carey flashed a shot wide for the visitors but so far, the scoresheet remains blank.

  4. Postpublished at 15:31 BST 16 August

    Preston 1-0 Leicester

Preston haven't really shown themselves since going ahead but Michael Smith has a header which flashes just wide.

The home side are winless in their past five in the league against Leicester but they lead at the moment.

  5. 'Leicester there for the taking'published at 15:31 BST 16 August

    Preston 1-0 Leicester

    Paul Gallagher
Former Preston midfielder on BBC Radio Lancashire

That right channel has been key to getting in behind Luke Thomas.

I'm looking at the body language of the Leicester players and they're there for the taking.

Before the goal they looked really up for it, Preston have been the better side, Leicester look like they don't fancy it.

  6. Postpublished at 15:29 BST 16 August

    Millwall 0-0 Middlesbrough

Moments at either end to lift the pulse rate.

First, Millwall go forward as Femi Azeez delivers a fine cross but Camiel Neghli can't keep his header between the sticks and it goes wide.

Then something for Boro to get excited about as Sammy Silvera sends over a fine cross which Morgan Whittaker gets a slight touch on, but it's beyond the post.

Remember Whittaker is still awaiting his first goal for the club.

  7. 'Wednesday don't look like a threat'published at 15:27 BST 16 August

    Sheff Wed 0-1 Stoke

    Andy Quy
    BBC Radio Stoke summariser

Wednesday don't look like a threat here.

They've got into a few good positions and have ahd some decent opportunities but they're yet to work Johansson.

It looks like set-pieces could be their best way back into the game.

  8. Postpublished at 15:25 BST 16 August

    Blackburn 0-0 Birmingham

These two are finding it hard to create anything in terms of clear cut chances.

Birmingham just edging things in terms of possession and they've had the only shot on target so far with Alex Cochrane denied by Balazs Toth.

  9. Postpublished at 15:25 BST 16 August

    Sheff Wed 0-1 Stoke

Better going forward from the Owls as Bailey Cadamarteri plays it out wide to Yan Valery and gets himself in the box.

But unfortunately Cadamarteri's header is over Viktor Johansson's net.

    Luca Kjerrumgaard 23 mins

Well, Luca Kjerrumgaard wasn't satisfied with just the one goal...

The on-loan striker nods Imran Louza's cross home to put Watford firmly in the driving seat.

Thoughts among the travelling Rangers fans will probably be turning to that horror show at Vicarage Road two years ago, when they watched their side concede four times in the first half...

  11. Postpublished at 15:23 BST 16 August

    Swansea 0-0 Sheff Utd

The home side are making the running in south Wales.

They are enjoying the bulk of the ball in that traditional Swansea style with Malick Yalocuye having a shot blocked and Ronald being denied by Michael Cooper when the ball comes back to him.

The Blades will have to see their way through this tricky spell.

  12. goal

GOAL: Watford 1-0 QPRpublished at 15:22 BST 16 August

    Luca Kjerrumgaard 19 mins

    First blood to Watford!

Nestory Irankunda is the creator for the Hornets, picking out Luca Kjerrumgaard and the striker's finish flies beyond Joe Walsh into the bottom corner.

A first league goal of the season for Watford - and a first in English football for the Danish forward.

  13. 'So far so good for Blues'published at 15:20 BST 16 August

    Blackburn 0-0 Birmingham

    Ian Clarkson
Ex-Birmingham captain on BBC Radio WM

So far, so good from Blues.

I would like to see more of an attacking incentive from them.

Blackburn aren't making it easy to get in behind.

  14. 'Potters sharper and quicker'published at 15:18 BST 16 August

In line with what had been discussed pre-match the whistle protests stopped after around five minutes.

The majority of the noise in the ground is now coming from the travelling supporters to my left.

The Potters, perhaps unsurprisingly given the differing pre-seasons these two had, look a yard sharper and quicker than the hosts.

  15. Postpublished at 15:16 BST 16 August

    Preston 1-0 Leicester

It's been a decent response from Leicester to going behind.

They force two corners and Caleb Okoli has his header blocked.

Leicester are unbeaten in their past seven league trips to Deepdale.

  16. Postpublished at 15:14 BST 16 August

    Millwall 0-0 Middlesbrough

As befitting two teams who won last week, only one change between them as Abdoulaye Kante replaces Delano Burgzorg for Middlesbrough.

A sign of Boro trying to be a bit harder to beat as Kante joins Hayden Hackney and Aidan Morris in the midfield.

They're already under the cosh as Millwall are letting them settle on the ball. A very familiar scenario at The Den.

  17. Postpublished at 15:14 BST 16 August

    Bristol City 0-0 Charlton

Bristol City and Charlton both kicked off with victories last week, but it's the home side who have had the better of the early possession.

Anis Mehmeti, who was on the mark in City's surprise 4-1 victory at Sheffield United last weekend, is off target this time, driving wide of Thomas Kaminski's goal.

  18. Postpublished at 15:12 BST 16 August

    Preston 1-0 Leicester

Leicester try to strike back quickly after going behind and Abdul Fatawu tries his luck.

Let's just say it isn't close and leave it at that shall we?

  19. Postpublished at 15:09 BST 16 August

    Swansea 0-0 Sheff Utd

Sheffield United manager Ruben SellesImage source, PA Media

Both these teams are looking for a first point of the season and Swansea make a positive start as Josh Tymon bends one just wide.

There is one change in the Swans line-up today as Malick Yalcouye makes his debut in place of Jay Fulton.

Sheffield United have Jack Robinson and Djibril Soumare replacing Rhys Norrington-Davies and Andre Brooks from that shock 4-1 loss to Bristol City.

  20. Postpublished at 15:08 BST 16 August

    Sheff Wed 0-1 Stoke

    Aaron McLean
    Ex-Peterborough striker on Final Score

Across the divisions, poor governance at the top end of clubs is resulting in clubs getting embargoes and ultimately Sheffield Wednesday are losing their players and really struggling to field a side that is going to be able to compete in the Championship.
