  2. 'Sometimes you have to mix it up'published at 20:16 British Summer Time 26 October 2024

    FT: Everton 1-1 Fulham

    Everton

Everton manager Sean Dyche speaking to BBC Match of the Day: "It feels good in the sense that I don't feel we were near our recent performance levels. The big balance is that the mentality continues to grow. You could smell in the air in the last 10 minutes that a goal was coming, at least I felt that way. To be fair they were the better team overall today and they are a really good side. We forged a positive point for ourselves in the end."

"I don't think we played well in the first half, I don't think we effected things too differently in the second half. Sometimes you have to mix it up, play crosses into the box and I was really pleased with that. We finally scored a goal and nicked a point. I don't think we were miles off but today we were off where we want to be.

On Beto's goal: "He's been working hard. His career path has been meteoric. We knew he was raw and still has a lot to learn. It is a brave header, he throws himself in amongst it. As Brian Clough said, sometimes you need to get hurt to score a goal and he certainly was willing to get hurt to score that goal. It's good that you have players who want to come off the bench and affect the game.

On Everton's five-match unbeaten run: "We weren't playing our best but we found a way to get something from the game. Over a season it is important to keep getting something from games in the Premier League."

  3. 'You can imagine what it means to me'published at 20:11 British Summer Time 26 October 2024

    FT: Everton 1-1 Fulham

    Everton

Everton goalscorer Beto to BBC Match of the Day: "It means a lot for me. These couple of weeks I wasn't playing so I needed to put the hard work and as everybody says the hard work pays off. This time it pays off for me and my team-mates, for the Toffees, and it is really important.

"He told me just to do my game, to go hard at the defenders and stay in the box, and to fight, just to do my game.

"You can imagine what it means to me, it means a lot to me. The hard work pays off. I just need to keep working. If I have the opportunity of course I want to score. And if I don't I will keep working. This is my mentality.

"We show tonight we don't give up. We need to keep this mentality.

"The belief comes from the hard work we do in the training ground. We work a lot every single day. We keep working hard and believing we can score."

  5. 'Football wasn't fair this evening'published at 20:03 British Summer Time 26 October 2024

    FT: Everton 1-1 Fulham

    Fulham

Fulham manager Marco Silva to BBC Match of the Day: "It's so tough for us and players in the dressing room. We didn't give them any chances to press high. We frustrated their press. We controlled the game.

"We created clear chances to score. The result is really unfair because we should have scored one or two more goals. We had one or two chances to score again and these games are always tough when you're so much better than the opposition.

"We should have scored the second goal to kill completely their hopes. We didn't. Unfortunately for us came a moment we should have done much better to defend the ball into the box.

"The players are down right now, but they should be proud with the way we played. The points will come for us.

"Being more clinical, a little bit more quality in the attack. We should have scored more because we created enough.

"When I say we are down it is because football wasn't fair this evening. It's not easy to come here and control the way we did it. Looking at the bigger picture we have to be pleased with the way we have started the season. We should have more points then we have really because they deserve that.

"The way they have been playing we probably deserve more. But if you continue this way the good things will come for us."

  6. 'Everyone had the feeling that the best team was Fulham'published at 20:00 British Summer Time 26 October 2024

    FT: Everton 1-1 Fulham

    Fulham

Fulham boss Marco Silva speaking to Sky Sports: "We are disappointed. Everyone that was at Goodison or watched the game at home had the feeling that the best team was Fulham. We controlled the game from the first minute until the last minute. Great 30 minutes from us at the start, nothing really from them. In these type of games when you are much better and so superior to the other side, you have to score more. They were really lucky. We should have defended our box better. Our central defence should be closer to have an impact. The result was really unfair for my players. Unfortunately we didn't win the game.

On switching off for the goal: "We didn't really switch off, we should have defended better. We had to be stronger. Our central defenders should have closed down Michael Keane and Beto. To come here at Goodison to control the game and it is disappointing not to get the three points."

"The players fought and we didn't get the three points but the three points will come for us and we have a derby at home next [against Brentford] to put things right."

  7. 'We have to take the positives'published at 19:57 British Summer Time 26 October 2024

    FT: Everton 1-1 Fulham

    Fulham

Fulham goalscorer Alex Iwobi speaking to Sky Sports: "It would have been a nice feeling to get three points against my old club but we weren't able to see it out. We have to take the positives.

"I enjoyed my time at Everton and left on a good note. I hope they do well, but I didn't want them to do well today. I wish them all the best.

"It's all well and good performing well and playing well, but the way to climb up the table is to get results."

  8. 'When you get your chance you have to take it'published at 19:55 British Summer Time 26 October 2024

    FT: Everton 1-1 Fulham

    Everton

Everton defender Michael Keane to Sky Sports: "It was a tough game, Fulham had a lot of the ball and control but Beto came on in the second half. I ended up going up top just to try something different really, because we hadn't created much."

On Beto's equaliser: "Everyone will be buzzing for him. He's worked so hard and he had to be patient this season. I know what it's like sitting on the bench, it was me last season. When you get your chance you have to take it, and that's what he's done this evening."

  9. 'Disappointed to concede in the last couple of minutes'published at 19:50 British Summer Time 26 October 2024

    FT: Everton 1-1 Fulham

    Fulham

Fulham midfielder Emile Smith Rowe to BBC Match of the Day: "A real low blow today, really disappointed to concede in the last couple of minutes. I thought we dominated today which is really annoying so not happy.

"It's really difficult, I thought we dominated at times and implemented the game plan really well and in the last few minutes you have to stay switched on and we didn't today.

"I had a really slow first half so it was important for me to get on the ball in the second half and inject something into the game. It was a good goal by Alex [Iwobi] as well so I was happy with that but disappointed with how it ended today.

On Iwobi's goal: "He can do that, he can define the games, he's a really good finisher so I am happy for him to get his goal. It was really important for us to get the three points today and we didn't do that."

"The manager just told us we have to keep our heads held high and go again. We're all really down at the moment but we've got to go again, we've got a big derby next week [against Brentford].

    FT: Everton 1-1 Fulham

    Everton

Everton goalscorer Beto to Sky Sports: "It means too much for me. Because I work hard and even if I don't play I still work hard. I put my head up every week and try to get better.

"For me this goal means too much. To be able to help the team, for me it's emotional you know. It was hard, well hard. These last weeks were really difficult for me. Here I am this week, we didn't win but I'm pleased to take a point.

"For the supporters as well, they've supported me. They're always singing my name. As a player you just want to pay it back. I always put it in my mind to be ready as the day may come. And today it came. I'm happy to help the team, to help the Toffees.

"I will enjoy this one tonight. Tomorrow is a day off, I'm thinking about that."

Former Everton defender on BBC Radio 5 Live

Sean Dyche would never have panicked at the start of the season and he has seen this before and got through it.

It was maybe not the best performance but Everton stayed in it. They have got a point out of it in the end and they will take it.
