This game is, in a word, utterly abysmal.

Welcome to Dyche-ball, let the opposition have the ball and let them play with it, occasionally hoof it up to Calvert-Lewin who nods it down to nobody. Rely on your defence while leaving your best defender on the bench. Happy days.

  4. 'I thought I'd be answering more tough questions'published at 17:57 British Summer Time

    FT: Brighton 2-2 Wolves

    Wolves

Wolves boss Gary O'Neil, speaking to Sky Sports: "I'm a little bit disappointed with myself really that I started with a five [at the back]. I know we did well with a five against Manchester City and the lads deserved another go at it.

"But I didn't think a five would fit very well against Brighton today but at least we were quick enough to change it at half-time.

"At 85 minutes when Brighton scored their second goal I thought I was going to be stood here answering some more tough questions.

"The players have given an awful lot and if they keep doing that it cannot continue to go against you."

  5. 'A big step forward in terms of resilience'published at 17:57 British Summer Time

    FT: Brentford 4-3 Ipswich

    Ipswich Town

Ipswich Town boss Kieran McKenna speaking to BBC Match of the Day: "I thought it was a brilliant game. The players delivered an outstanding performance in so many areas of the game, with eleven and ten men. It was a big step forward in terms of the resilience shown, it is disappointing we did not get any points today, but if we can show that character and belief and are competitive every week then things can turn and we can pick up points."

On the period just before half time: "Yes that was very important. We had a pretty big chance to make it 3-0 and at 3-0 you know you can defend your lead even more stoutly and it is hard to come back from. It was perhaps the only moment we dropped our level on intensity and they executed well and scored two goals.

"Two nil at half time would have been good, three nil almost perfect, but you know here the game is not done. We did so many things right across the game, on and off the ball and with eleven and ten men which will stand us in good stead going forwards, and if we do those things we will give ourselves a chance."

On positives: "The biggest thing is psychologically. We have had so many last minute issues and injuries where we have had to change plans, right up until this morning at the hotel, so there has been a massive disruption from five or six days ago. We are having debuts every week, so how the players performed individually was superb.

"We suffered when we had to suffer, we were aggressive when we had the chance and we were resilient too. A lot of things we did were excellent, not perfect because if it was we would not concede the goals but that is what we now need to work on."

  6. 'We only got one point and of course we deserved three'published at 17:56 British Summer Time

    FT: Aston Villa 1-1 Bournemouth

    Aston Villa

Aston Villa manager Unai Emery to Sky Sports: "We played a fantastic match. We played I think the best minutes since the start of the season. The first half we controlled the game. At the beginning we were dominating and creating chances. We didn't score, or when we did it was a no goal.

"The second half we started even better than the first half. We were pushing, dominating, creating chances. The goalkeeper was saving a lot of times.

"We scored the goal, fantastic, but we didn't manage the last 10 minutes. We didn't manage because they are a very competitive team always playing to win corners and chances, force mistakes. They scored in the last moment and we have to accept it. But we were fantastic again, really I'm very happy.

"Of course we are very demanding in our own way, but we are having a fantastic season. Today we only got one point and of course we deserved three points, but football is like that, and from the last 10 minutes they deserved to get something and they got it.

"The VAR is for the referees and the referee today did a fantastic job.

"We try to avoid our opponents getting to our box, try to avoid conceding corners. Teams like Bournemouth their style is so direct, quickly getting to the opposition box. We made a mistake in our focus because maybe we were tired, not focused 100%. This is one thing I know we have to improve."

When Everton haven't got the ball, they need a bit of pressure on the back two of Fulham.

I don't know if that's going to come from Ndiaye or Gana Gueye jumping up from midfield.

I hope you are right, Sham. I've had a bit of a cold today and need things to be happening on the pitch to stop me from feeling increasingly sorry for myself.

Everton fans may not be happy but this has been a solid away performance so far.

  12. 'Of course we deserved to win, but we have to accept it'published at 17:50 British Summer Time

    FT: Aston Villa 1-1 Bournemouth

    Aston Villa

Aston Villa manager Unai Emery to BBC Match of the Day: "We played a fantastic match, against this team was very difficult. We imposed our ideas. We created chances to scored in the first half, we had one goal which was not because the ball was out.

"We improved even in the second half and for 35 minutes we played fantastic. We created chances, we stopped them, and we scored the goal. But we knew before how we needed to be always ready for everything, because they are a team who are always going forward when they get the ball.

"At the last moment we didn't control the match. For the last 10 minutes we didn't control. Of course we deserved to win, but we have to accept it. It's painful but we have to accept it.

"We are being very demanding and we want to be in the top position in the league. But we have to accept that we are continuing. We are having a fantastic start in the league and Champions League and we are of course frustrated because we want to win."

On Villa's disallowed goal: "VAR is clear, of course. If VAR is telling us no goal it's clear. For me the referee was fantastic today. It was not a goal because it was out, through VAR."

  14. 'Let's put it this way, when we play it is exciting'published at 17:48 British Summer Time

    FT: Brentford 4-3 Ipswich

    Brentford

Brentford boss Thomas Frank speaking to BBC Match of the Day: "Being completely honest, I am still irritated. In many ways we did not do well enough, so big respect and praise to Ipswich. They were by far the better team for the first fourty minutes, there was only one team on the pitch - one of our worst ever in the Premier League.

"The last five was better and then second half we were clearly the better team and got back to 3-2 up and then lacked the killer instinct to finish it off.

"To be fair a brilliant cross and finish for 3-3, so well played for them. And then for the 4-3 we had some margins go with us, we put a lot of crosses in and if you keep doing that then maybe there is a mistake at the end of one. Let's put it this way, when we play it is exciting."

On seeing out the game for the win: "Massively important. It is fantastic mentality to come back from 2-0 down, and then in the end to win the game right at the last moment is big. Last year we had a long spell of games that we could not win but this season we finally managed to win these sorts of games."

On if his players can do better: "Yes I said at half time I was angry, it is not often that I am that irritated but we were so poor. In the football and the Premier League we take nothing for granted, so we need to enjoy the win."

Marco Silva should be commended for the amazing job he’s done at Fulham with a pretty much bang average bunch of players. Iwobi, Andreas, Traore and Jimenez haven’t exactly pulled up trees! Good to watch also.

Talking of household equipment, Fulham may as well have stuck a wheelie bin in goal in the early stages of this game.

As a very biased Welshman, I can't believe Harry Wilson isn't starting for Fulham. An excellent player whose seemingly only drive is to make things happen for his team.
