If I'm one of the Fulham midfielders on the bench I'm absolutely fuming. How many poor games is Pereira allowed before they get a chance to start? I love Marco, but his favouritism here simply stinks!

  2. PENALTY APPEALpublished at 9 mins

    Everton 0-0 Fulham

Dominic Calvert-Lewin chases a good ball into the box, he tries to flick the ball beyond Calvin Bassey and drops to the floor as he tries to get round the defender. Everton fans shout for a penalty but the referee is not interested.

  3. 'I don't feel we were sloppy or flat'published at 17:38 British Summer Time

    FT: Manchester City 1-0 Southampton

    Manchester City

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola speaking to MOTD: "The way they played, they are so demanding. They defend with the ball. You can defend with the ball and they are really good, one of the best in the Premier League. They didn’t create many chances, but we created a lot but unfortunately we could not score the second. Big credit to them, it was not because we were sloppy or flat. I don’t have that feeling. I think we were there and sometimes they are good. We have to accept that."

On Erling Haaland: “It is not easy for him because every cross is a penalty for Erling - the way they pull him. We create more but we could not score the second, but Erling is a guarantee for us.

On Savinho and Matheus Nunes: "Really good. Savinho was created all the chances, right to left. I would say really good. And Matheus is not in a position that is not his natural position again so offensively and defensively, make another assist. He played really good."

On Mateo Kovacic: "He’s a incredible man and player. We miss Rodri a lot this season, he’s such an important player. At the same time we have to continue to do it."

On whether he will have any injured players back against Tottenham: “I don’t think so. We will see what happens. In this calendar, the Carabao Cup is just to play with the young players. We will see if we play with academy players or see how they come back fresh from that."

  7. 'A valuable point'published at 17:35 British Summer Time

    FT: Aston Villa 1-1 Bournemouth

    Bournemouth

Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola speaking to Sky Sports: "Happy when you get one point at the end in the last minute. After fighting and being under pressure in a lot of parts of the game. I think we competed really well today. We started badly and they were better at the start. We had chances but it was a difficult game for us."

On Mark Travers: "He kept us in the game at the beginning. They were pushing us and I would say the back four plus Mark kept us there. The subs gave us another energy and at the end, we got a draw."

On the bookings in the game: "I think it was more a game they wanted to play than what we wanted to play. We were defending well but it wasn't the game we wanted to play."

On the growth of his side and spirit: "We are scoring in a lot of games in the last 15-20 minutes. We need this energy at the end I think sometimes we give too much importance to those starters and we have seen those who come on are just as important.

"It doesn't get any easier. We are competing well and showing some character. It is a valuable point."

  9. 'I will learn a lot from Russell Martin'published at 17:32 British Summer Time

    FT: Man City 1-0 Southampton

    Manchester City

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola speaking to Sky Sports:

"Today it was not how they [Southampton] defend deep it was how good they play with the ball with the keeper and the movement. It's a good game to learn as a manager. I am going to learn a lot with Russell because they did really well. We were humble and accepted that they did really well. Last two games, Wolves and Southampton, are at the bottom of the league and if this is the level that shows how tough this Premier League is. They played really good. They didn't create many chances but it was an incredible effort to get the ball from us. We created chances that we couldn't convert but the result is good.

"The build-up is exceptional. They open the channels. They link well with the striker and every moment makes sense. I knew after what people had said to me about Russell [Martin] and we tasted it today. The players were not bad, they were good. When a team plays that level you have to accept it.

"Important thing is being there. We created chances, as always Erling [Haaland] had two or three clear ones. But I'm not concerned, it's important to have 23 points now.

"Most of the teams defend so deep. Now we will play Spurs, Bournemouth and Brighton and they won't defend deep. So we have to adapt now. But lately a lot of defences sit so deep. We did create spaces to create, Savinho was really good today.

"We have just two or three days to recover now. We are used to playing during 11 months every three or four days. The issue is that we can't rest some players but hopefully sooner or later we can rest some and some can come back."

  10. 'We had to suffer'published at 17:32 British Summer Time

    FT: Manchester City 1-0 Southampton

    Manchester City

Manchester City’s Bernardo Silva speaking to MOTD: "It was a tough game, a tough game where we had to run a lot. We scored early which we thought would make the game a little bit easier but it didn’t. Even when we had our chances to end the game with a second or third goal, we didn’t do it. We made it more difficult for us.

"Credit to Southampton, they made it difficult for us. Their patterns are very good, they deserve a lot more than what they’ve got in the Premier League. They’re a team that is playing with the ball. They put us into a lot of difficult areas of the pitch and made us run more than we are used to. We had to suffer to get the three points but we are happy with the three points.

"Three points is three points. It’s a win so we’re happy. I will have to check the game again but in terms of finishing we could have finished one or two more plays. A lot of credit to them. It was a tough job for us today."

On Erling Haaland: "We have the big guy up front so these type of crosses, these type of actions inside the boss that is his main quality. He’s there, he’s hungry to score more and more. Today he helped us win the game and we are very happy to have him in our team as you can imagine."

  11. 'If we play with that courage and spirit, we will be fine'published at 17:31 British Summer Time

    FT: Manc City 1-0 Southampton

    Southampton

Southampton boss Russel Martin speaking to Sky Sports: "I’m so proud of the players. I don’t like losing, but none of us do. I said to them if we’re ever going to lose together, which we will, I want to do it in a way we’re still proud of the performance. I'm really proud of them today, to go 1-0 down so early an then to respond the way we did, there was some brilliant and beautiful football played and we hurt them a bit.

"The guys threw everything at them defensively so I can’t ask for much more away from home to the best team in the country. They will take so much from that performance. If we play with that courage and spirit, we will be fine.

“I think we defended with the ball a lot. It was the best performance we’ve had with the ball for a long time. I’m really pleased with that.

“If we can have moments and create what we did today and some of the build-up moments we had today was incredible, if we can carry that forward we will be fine.

“We’ll take so much form today. Not just tactically, but psychologically from the players I think they should take a lot of pride and belief from today.”

Emile Smith-Rowe was pushed down the pecking order at Arsenal. He has started the season so strongly with Fulham. I'm still not sure what his best position is, he can play in the middle and out wide, but he has had that game time and looks a decent signing.

The last day of BST before the clocks go back and Sean Dyche is making the most of it, rocking up to Goodison Park in a t-shirt and shorts.

His Everton side have been in decent form of late, unbeaten in four and looking to make it back-to-back wins for the first time since April.

They host a Fulham side that have stuttered of late, losing their last two, and former Toffees boss Marco Silva will be aiming to get one over on his side again.

    FT: Aston Villa 1-1 Bournemouth

    Bournemouth

Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola speaking to BBC Match of the Day: "It is always nice when you have a point at the end in the last minute of the game. I don't feel we played well but we competed well. We faced a very good team and they started better than us. It was difficult."

On the penalty shouts from his team: "I don't want to talk about the referees. I prefer not to speak. After I was suspended I prefer to start a clean slate."

On the equaliser being from a well-worked set-piece: "Especially with the keeper, everything we were putting on the second post he was claiming everything. Luckily the last one it is difficult header but it was a great goal in a great moment."

On Mark Travers' performance: "He made very good saves and kept us in the game when we were suffering. Everyone has stepped up and we finished much better.

"We played better against Arsenal but today we showed more character. You feel intimidation here and it is tough to survive but we kept in and got the draw."

The specific injury was very serious but also I imagine very scary. It hits you a little harder than the injuries you typically see.

That would have taken some time to get over. We did see a lot of good things fairly quickly in Jimenez's recovery. I think this season we are starting to see that creativity and sharpness.

  20. 'We've lost in a way we can be proud of'published at 17:21 British Summer Time

    FT: Man City 1-0 Southampton

    Southampton

Southampton boss Russell Martin speaking to BBC MOTD:

"Proud of them. The courage they had and the build-up was incredible. We had some big moments so proud of that as well.

"We had more [chances] than most I think coming here. The level of courage and intensity to run and play football in our way was incredible. We'll take a lot of belief from today. Not just the defending. The character after going 1-0 down early and the character to play in the way we want to. If we're going to lose at least do it in the way that we can be proud of."

On Man City goal: "The gap for Erling Haaland is too big. We worked on trying not to leave him one-v-one too often in the box but he's the best in the business at that."

Feel confident of points going forward: "I see enough with discipline and mentality, the lads believe in what they do. We have to maintain that. We should have more points on the board and we have to keep working in our way. Today we were more us than we have been in a long time and if we carry that forward we'll be fine.

"We defended well today with the ball and we need to be brave doing that."
