  1. Options from Everton, Chelsea and Villapublished at 16:16 British Summer Time 16 May

Rob: Hi Wes. I’ve got Free Hit to use this weekend and need to make up 22 points in my mini league. How bold would you go with Everton, Villa and Chelsea as they look the sensible teams to pick from? And obviously the legend Bryan Mbuemo!

Hi Rob, Yes, these teams are great to target this week. Everton are playing the relegated Southampton, Chelsea face Man United and Villa host Spurs, who are likely to rotate and their league form is poor.

My top recommendations from these teams are Beto, Mykolenko, Watkins, Rogers, Palmer, Enzo and Cucarella.

Just a word of caution, although they're great options this week be careful not to take too many points hits to squeeze lots in.

  2. 'Salah chasing records could do well'published at 16:13 British Summer Time 16 May

    FPL Q&A

Sachin: I've stuck with Salah as my captain. Should I risk Murphy's law and switch captaincy this week (and most likely look like a fool for not sticking with him)? Do you think his playing time will be "managed" to give other players a run? Also, should I bring in Watkins in place of Isak?

Salah chasing records could do well. I personally prefer Watkins vs Spurs this week, but no right or wrong way. Many good captaincy options this week. What I'd suggest is looking at your mini leagues and seeing if you need to chase with a differential captain or play it safe to maintain a lead.

  4. 'When gambling on a differential captain I'd go for a midfielder or forward'published at 16:08 British Summer Time 16 May

    FPL Q&A

    FPL Heisenberg

Anon: Thoughts on captaining Mykolenko as a big differential? I am 37 points behind first in my mini league and they don't at the moment have any Everton player.

Mykolenko captain isn't something I would do, but I get the logic with Everton playing Southampton at Home there's a decent chance of a clean sheet.

However, he has only 3 attacking returns this season. So the likely best case scenario is a clean sheet, gaining 6-9 points depending on bonus.

For me, when gambling on a differential Captain I'd go for a midfielder or forward who could score big. Someone like Rogers, Watkins, Palmer, Enzo may not be differentials but they will be as captain and they have a much higher realistic points ceiling compared to Mykolenko.

    Jamie VardyImage source, Getty Images

    Jamie Vardy, Leicester, £5.3m - Ipswich (h)

There's a big focus on fixtures and narrative as the end of the season approaches, and Vardy is one player with everything in place for a successful week.

He has two returns in his past two games, a nine-pointer the last time he faced a relegated team at home (two matches ago), and will be facing a leaky defence in his last appearance as a Leicester City player at King Power Stadium.

Would you put it past him to sign off with a goal?

  6. Marmoush to Watkins 'a popular pick'published at 16:04 British Summer Time 16 May

Anon: This is my FPL team and I need advice on what to do. I have 1.2 in the bank and looking to get rid of Marmoush. Should I take a -4? I have a good 10-point gap on my friends in a league, but I am 80 points behind first place? What should I do?

As you have a 10-point lead it is best to try and block those behind you. Watkins will be a popular pick so Marmoush to Watkins - then to fund this move you can do something like Murphy to Enzo or Burn to a cheap defender such as Van Den Berg.

Hey team, happy Friday. Two free transfers and here's the current team. Would you look to bring in De Bruyne/Palmer/Neto in midfield or Wissa up front or save until next week where the plan will be to get Saka in?

I'd target Wissa with this squad. It allows you to get rid of a minutes risk player in Marmoush. With Haaland back he only played five minutes vs Southampton so we can't rely on him anymore.

Furthermore, despite last week's blank Wissa is still in fine form and is having a great season overall.

  8. Palmer worth a four-point hit?published at 16:01 British Summer Time 16 May

Dean: Hi Wes, I am considering taking a four-point hit to bring in Cole Palmer against Man Utd. Good move?

I can't talk you out of it. I'm not a fan of four point hits usually, but, with Cole Palmer facing a poor Man Utd side who will likely rotate, you can absolutely go for it. Just make sure it's not at the expense of a good asset with a good fixture.

This is the BBC Sport team of the week, with Cole Palmer as captain, Ollie Watkins leading the charge up front and more than a few flyers in there.

Neither Palmer or Bukayo Saka are really in form, while Jamie Vardy and Beto up front could be budget wonders - or major let-downs.

Cole Palmer (captain), Chelsea, £10.5m - Manchester United (h)

This is the game in which Palmer scored a hat-trick last season and he's again in prime position to produce in a key match for Chelsea's Champions League qualification hopes.

United have been awful this season and also have most of their attention on Wednesday's Europa League final.

Like Bukayo Saka, Palmer is another player underperforming his xGI with just four returns from an xGI of 8.2 since week 22.

    He is due a haul.

Joe: Benching Salah as an attempt to not finish bottom in my mini league, should I go really bold and triple captain Watkins?

Yes, absolutely Triple Captain Watkins. I'm transferring him in and captaining him myself, if I still had Triple Captain left and I was chasing I'd happily play it on Watkins at home to a leaky Spurs who are likely to rotate before the Europa League final.

Kai Havertz and Declan RiceImage source, Getty Images

The big news this week is that Arsenal's Kai Havertz is nearing a long-awaited return from his hamstring injury.

It would be a risky transfer though as Gunners boss Mikel Arteta said that he would decide on Saturday what part - if any - the German forward might be able to play in Sunday's game at home to Newcastle.

Arteta also said that Declan Rice, Leonardo Trossard, Gabriel Martinelli and Jurrien Timber will be assessed tomorrow.

Magpies defender Sven Botman is a doubt, while Kieran Trippier is unlikely to feature.

Elsewhere, Brighton's Lewis Dunk is back available and his defensive team-mate Igor Julio will be part of the squad to face Liverpool on Monday, while the Seagulls' Kauru Mitoma has a "minor issue".

Arne Slot says it is "too early" to say if Trent Alexander-Arnold will feature at the Amex Stadium.

Everton's Jake O'Brien has recovered from a knee injury and is "fit and available" to face Southampton in the final men's league game at Goodison Park.

Here's the team I'd choose if I were Free Hitting this week.

As you can see, budget is no issue.

Captain would be Cole Palmer, vice captain Ollie Watkins and I'd have a bench of Matz Sels, Jarrod Bowen, Marc Cucarella and Vitalii Mykolenko.
