As a Brighton fan I would rather miss out on Europe to Brentford or Bournemouth than have Palace win their first Trophy. We can always go to Europe again but Palace will never let us forget their trophy win.

BBC Sport chief football writer on BBC Radio 5 Live

BBC Sport chief football writer Phil McNulty suggests that there will be a sea of change this summer at Manchester City:

"There's been just a little bit of that hunger missing and maybe sometimes it is hard to keep going to the well and winning trophies. I do think this summer will be something of a reset at Manchester City. We'll obviously see the last hurrah for Kevin de Bruyne, maybe Bernardo Silva will go - a summer of change ahead in reaction to the season they've had."

It’s surely written in the stars that Palace win the FA Cup? In line with Newcastle who hadn’t won silverware in 70 years, and Liverpool winning the league in front of fans for the first time in 35 years, it’s been one of those seasons. Tomorrow has got to be Palace’s day.

Crystal Palace will arrive at Wembley on Saturday with some fire power in their squad, particularly in Eberechi Eze, Jean-Philippe Mateta and Ismaïla Sarr.

In Palace's last four FA Cup games, Eze has been involved in four goals. He has scored three and made one assists, including his goal in their semi-final against Aston Villa, according to the Football Association.

This season's cup campaign has been even more impressive for Eze as he has not registered a goal involvement in his first 14 FA Cup appearances.

Eze has also scored five goals in his last four games for Palace across all competitions.

Sarr has also scored three goals and made one assist in the FA Cup this season. He has also taken 10 shots at goal with an accuracy of 40%.

Meanwhile, Mateta has put in some impressive performances in the cup competition but the Premier League is where he has been shining this season.

According to Opta, since manager Oliver Glasner's first league game in charge in February 2024 only Alexander Isak (32), Erling Haaland (31) and Mohamed Salah (30) have more league goals than Mateta (27).

Palace will be hoping he will continue his good form and bring his scoring boots into the final.

As a palace fan living and working in Manchester it's been the longest week of my life waiting for this. But I've had a lot of support from neutrals. Got my ticket for tomorrow with my dad and brother and can't wait to watch the boys at Wembley again. Already said to work I'm wearing my palace shirt on Monday in my Man City supporting office if we win. Up the palace!!!

Manchester City sold 27,000 of their 36,230 ticket allocation for their FA Cup semi-final win over Nottingham Forest at Wembley, while London-based Crystal Palace sold 35,500 tickets for their last-four win over Aston Villa.

The 2-0 win for City saw them reach their third consecutive FA Cup final, which would have played a factor in their struggle to fill up seats.

However, expect a full house on Saturday - in what will be Manchester City's 27th trip to Wembley since its refurbished in 2007.

City announced they received an additional allocation of tickets, increasing their total allocation to 33,467, with Palace opening up a waiting list for their fans after selling out.

Went to my first Palace game in 1969 and was at the previous two finals. Going to Wembley tomorrow in the hope rather than expectation that the Eagles finally win something in my lifetime!

  9. 'Reward for the faith they kept in the manager Oliver Glasner'published at 08:50 British Summer Time 16 May

Crystal Palace v Man City (Sat, 16:30 BST)

    Phil McNulty
BBC Sport chief football writer on BBC Radio 5 Live

BBC Sport chief football writer Phil McNulty believes Crystal Palace would be "quietly confident" going into the FA Cup final:

"I think Crystal Palace will be quietly confident. They have quality right throughout the team. That day (FA Cup semi-final) Eberechi Eze, Ismaila Sarr and Jean-Philippe Mateta, but if you look through the rest of the team, they've got a a very good goalkeeper in Dean Henderson, England central defender in Marc Guehi and an outstanding midfield player in Adam Wharton.

"It's also a reward for the faith they kept in the manager Oliver Glasner. They didn't win a league game until October 7th but they kept faith and that's been rewarded."

Poor Saffron. Today's page might be one for Brighton fans to avoid.

Also, I love how loads of you are texting in starting with a measured "neutral fan here" but sounding like you're about to purchase a Selhurst Park season ticket by the end of your message.

As a neutral Scot, the FA Cup is a great competition to follow and this year please let it be Palace! What a season recovery, great football at times and really deserve the accolades for getting to the final, but do they DESERVE this? YES they do! C'mon Palace!!

Good morning Daryl and everyone else who has texted in so far.

Form is in Man City's favour. In April, City recovered from two goals down to defeat Palace 5-2.

Eberechi Eze and Chris Richards to put Palace into a comfortable lead, before five different players scored for City.

Kevin de Bruyne, Omar Marmoush, Mateo Kovacic, James McAtee and Nico O'Reilly all bagged goals in a dominant display.

The other game between the sides this season ended 2-2, with Rico Lewis sent off in the closing stages.

Crystal Palace, who have won three games against City in the last decade, last won this fixture in 2021.

Good morning Joe! Nerves have kicked in big time about tomorrow’s FA Cup final game. Had the heart broken when we got so close vs Man United back in 2016 as I was born when we were last in the final in 90! Best chance in years and this is the best Palace team since the Late 80’s early 90’s

As a Palace fan of 30 years and remembering the heartbreak of 1990 and 2016, I think we have a real chance of lifting the cup this weekend. And we owe it all to Oliver Glasner. The man deserves the keys to the kingdom.

Morning. Neutral but hoping the Man City who couldn't find the net against Southampton turn up tomorrow and the Palace who bulldozered Villa turn up. Hmm. Probably not that neutral. But it's a season when all the cups are being shared around so come on Palace.

Haha, looks like a lot of people agree with Adam's suggestion.

Jesse Lingard's extra-time strike prevented Crystal Palace from lifting their first major trophy in the 2016 FA Cup final.

Manchester United won the game 2-1, but had to come from behind after Jason Puncheon's powerful far-post finish with 12 minutes left.

That rush of emotion resulted in Palace boss Alan Pardew breaking into an infamous dance/shake of the hips.

Their previous major final came against United in the 1990 FA Cup final which finished 3-3 and went to a replay, which Man United won under Alex Ferguson.

Pardew actually played in that final.

City fan here so obviously want City to win. That said, CP are a great attacking team and if City don't turn up like in last year's final then Palace will easily win.
