    Portsmouth 0-0 Luton Town

So close to an opener for Luton Town!

Chiedozie Ogbene floats a cross to the back post where he finds Elijah Adebayo whose header looks like it is saved by the fingertips of Portsmouth keeper Will Norris.

The intervention from Norris sees the ball strike the woodwork before bouncing away.

Bromley forward Corey Whitely almost causes Hayes Lane to erupt with an early opener to mark their first ever home EFL game. The strike doesn't get past AFC Wimbledon goalkeeper Owen Goodman though as the rebound sends it wide.

Goalless in the four early games in Leagues One and Two so far.

    Portsmouth 0-0 Luton Town

Marlon Pack works the ball well out to the left with a lovely pass where he finds Sam Silvera in space to run in to.

Silvera crosses the ball to Pompey's Paddy Lane unmarked in the box but Lane's attempt flies just over the bar.

    Derby 1-0 Middlesbrough

Derby have suffered an early blow now, with Eiran Cashin forced off injured.

His sliding tackle to clear the ball sees him clatter in Callum Elder. Cashin gets plenty of attention from the medics and it seems that it is concussion protocols that has ended his day.

Sonny Bradley comes on as his replacement.

  6. CLOSE!published at 12:51 British Summer Time 17 August

    West Brom 0-0 Leeds

Almost shades of that David Beckham goal from almost 30 years ago - sorry, not a comparison Leeds fans will welcome! - but this effort by Ethan Ampadu would have been equally popular on video clips if it had been a couple of feet further left.

Ampadu wins possession inside his own half and spots Albion keeper Alex Palmer some way out of his goal, so he has a pop. Palmer was back-pedalling for a moment and must be relieved to have seen the chip fall wide.

Portsmouth are now in the game.

They have learned quickly and gotten used to Luton.

    West Brom 0-0 Leeds

A couple of nervous moments for Leeds' back line as Karlan Grant steals in behind to collect a ball over the top, but it comes to nothing, then Darnell Furlong hurls in one of his long, missile-type throws that Pascal Struijk has to bundle behind.

But the visitors are also threatening on the break, with Dan James forcing a corner that reaches the head of Junior Firpo, only for the ball to sail wide.

    Kayden Jackson (14 mins)

    Derby break the deadlock!

The early breakthrough comes from Kayden Jackson after a breakaway from a Middlesbrough corner.

The ball breaks for Jackson on the halfway line, and he races off to eventually beat Seny Dieng in a one-on-one.

That coast-to-coast goal has the Rams fans in raptures.

It's end-to-end all of a sudden at Pride Park and Seny Dieng is called into action by Kayden Jackson.

    Derby 0-0 Middlesbrough

Middlesbrough have worked a nice move on the edge of the box, and Isaiah Jones tries to find Emmanuel Latte Lath with a neat low ball to the back post.

There is too much for Latte Lath to do, and he can only bundle an effort on the stretch well wide.

  14. CLOSE!published at 12:40 British Summer Time 17 August

    Portsmouth 0-0 Luton Town

Luton Town have a couple of decent chances moments after each other.

Portsmouth keeper Will Norris is called into action first to stop Elijah Adebayo from close range - then shortly after Carlton Morris is played through on goal but Norris stops the shot with his legs.

    All Luton early on.

    West Brom 0-0 Leeds

Some lively tackles flying in during the opening stages, but neither side has carved out anything approaching a goal threat just yet.

Leeds collected just one point from their two games against West Brom last season and haven't had a great record at the Hawthorns in recent years.

    Derby 0-0 Middlesbrough

Derby's Kenzo Goudmijn spoke during the week about getting to grips with physicality and speed of the English game.

The Dutch midfielder has again looked bright early on for the Rams, but he is stopped in his tracks by Matt Clarke. I think that is the sort of treatment Goudmijn was talking about!

    Portsmouth v Luton (15:00 BST)

    Andy Moon
    BBC Radio Solent's Portsmouth commentator

It's about preventing Luton from being able to grab that absolute stranglehold on the game.

And Pompey finding a way to ensure they are still in it and still there being competitive.
