  2. 'Maybe luck comes into it a bit more'published at 16:09 Greenwich Mean Time 4 November

Liverpool v Bayer Leverkusen (Tues, 20:00 GMT)

    Liverpool

Finally from Liverpool boss Arne Slot on the new Champions League format:

"Normally you play a home or away leg and you can prepare better the second time. When you play now every tie it is a new opponent. Every pot has some strong teams and some not as strong. You can be lucky or unlucky and then it has to do with which teams you face at home or away at home.

"Maybe luck comes into it a bit more but on the other hand when you play more games luck maybe evens out. After eight games it's a better way to judge.

"The only thing I love is every evening I can switch to a game that is really a nice one to watch."

  3. 'Mo is in a really good place'published at 16:08 Greenwich Mean Time 4 November

Liverpool v Bayer Leverkusen (Tues, 20:00 GMT)

    Liverpool

More from Liverpool boss Arne Slot on Mohamed Salah:

"There's no reason at the moment to think he is dropping in terms of level. Not when you look at his numbers or what you see when you watch him play. I cannot tell you what the future will look like. What I do know is Mo is in a really good place at the moment."

  4. 'Clear Alonso is a special managerpublished at 16:06 Greenwich Mean Time 4 November

Liverpool v Bayer Leverkusen (Tues, 20:00 GMT)

    Liverpool

Liverpool boss Arne Slot on Xabi Alonso:

"It's difficult to say what makes him a special manager if you don't work with him on a daily basis but he is, that is clear.

"Bottom of the league when he took over, didn't spend much, mainly the same players, and they only lost in the final of the Europa League. What makes him special is hard because I haven't faced him or worked with him but what might be the situation is he worked with incredible managers in the past and played at the highest levels. So he also knows and understands what players feel at certain moments.

"That all contributes to what a manager he is. The best way to find out what makes him special is to ask the players he has worked with."

  5. 'We were poor in the first half'published at 16:02 Greenwich Mean Time 4 November

Liverpool v Bayer Leverkusen (Tues, 20:00 GMT)

    Liverpool

Liverpool boss Arne Slot on the importance of work without the ball:

"Very important because football is played in two moments, with the ball and without.

"If you play against strong teams you need to be good on both sides. We were poor in the first half with and without the ball against Brighton. That shows us we need a performance like the second half because Leverkusen is at least equal to Brighton with the ball."

  6. 'This will continue for as long as their futures are not clear'published at 16:00 Greenwich Mean Time 4 November

Liverpool v Bayer Leverkusen (Tues, 20:00 GMT)

    Liverpool

Liverpool boss Arne Slot on Mohamed Salah's Instagram post following Saturday's win over Brighton:

"I don't look at Instagram posts of the players, I talk to them. Mo is in a very good place at the moment. He always has been at Liverpool but at the moment as well.

"I'm hoping he can post one after tomorrow and Saturday again. For me, it is important what he tells me. That's what matters, not how you guys interpret that post. "

A reference to his future?: "If it was I should have spoken about that but we have spoken to him about what he says. We've only spoken about Leverkusen because they deserve all our attention. He is out of contract at the end of the season and Virgil said something too and you interpret something with Mo too. This will continue for as long as their futures are not clear but in the meantime let's hope they bring the performances."

  7. 'A big European game'published at 15:57 Greenwich Mean Time 4 November

Liverpool v Bayer Leverkusen (Tues, 20:00 GMT)

    Liverpool

Liverpool boss Arne Slot on facing Xabi Alonso's Bayer Leverkusen:

"It is a big European game which is almost always the situation when you play the Champions League even in the new format.

"Mainly also for what Xabi Alonso did for this club, especially in Europe as well. Maybe more for how he manages Leverkusen, how he manages them domestically. In Europe last season they were incredible as well. I think this season they are just as good but a bit more unlucky when it comes to results.

"Big game to look forward to for people who love the game."

Liverpool v Bayer Leverkusen (Tues, 20:00 GMT)

    Liverpool

"It's a bit different. I personally quite like it, playing different teams on each occasion is kind of cool. You're going away to different stadiums too which is nice. It's harder to prepare for games because before you could see from the first game but now you only play each time once. But, it's cool to play more teams."

I can't believe the entitlement of Everton fans and the lack of respect for Dyche. You would think he has an embarrassment of riches to choose from every week rather than the threadbare squad he has. Do they think the current squad are being held back by Dyche? Look at West Ham and be careful what you wish for.
