Sho: Brentford should be three up! Sensational so far, but they will regret these missed chances.

I have rarely seen Manchester City look like this.

Nathan Collins was on his own in the area and forced a goal-line save from Ederson.

    Brentford could have scored three.

Their fear will be they will be made to pay for only scoring once but City have to improve otherwise they will concede again.

    Liverpool 0-0 Nottingham Forest

No shots in the game at all so far at Anfield. I'm sure Forest fans would have settled for this as a start.

    Man City 0-1 Brentford

    Off the line!

Brentford have a corner and Nathan Collins is unmarked in the middle of the penalty area and his effort is denied by a brilliant reaction save from Ederson low down to his right.

Forest boss Nuno Espirito Santo is very much treating the technical area as a recommendation and not a rule in the early stages. He has to move out of the way so Andy Robertson can take a throw-in.

  6. Trent 'causing Forest problems'published at 15:11 British Summer Time 14 September

    Liverpool 0-0 Nottingham Forest

    Chris Sutton
Former Celtic striker on BBC Radio 5 Live

Trent is playing so high and that's causing Forest problems.

Forest have set up with a 4-4-1-1 - Gibbs-White is playing off Chris Wood. This gives Forest the option to go direct.

He takes up some interesting positions, Trent - he is floating around the pitch.

Liverpool are trying to get overloads all over the pitch.

    Fulham 0-0 West Ham

Any other neutrals a bit surprised that Joachim Andersen left Palace for Fulham? He has sprayed a gem of a pass out wide to start another Fulham attack which is cleared. No real chances yet at the Cottage but it's nice and bright.

    Man City 0-1 Brentford

    Manchester City = rattled.

Yoane Wissa fancies his chances again but Ederson comes right out of his goal mouth to clear.

Moments later, Keane Lewis-Potter clips one in to the back post and Bryan Mbeumo goes for the spectacular with an attempted overhead kick. Goodness me.

  9. 'Wissa in the right place at the right time'published at 15:08 British Summer Time 14 September

    Man City 0-1 Brentford

    Ashley Williams
Former Wales defender on Final Score

It's early in the game, the first attack of the game.

Yoane Wissa is an impressive player.

I still feel like Man City are going to win the game. Fair play to Brentford, they have come out on the front foot.

John Stones messed up the clearance which can happen sometimes and Wissa is in the right place at the right time.

Brentford making the classic mistake of scoring too early against City. We all know what happens next...

    Michael

I'm a bit nervous for Brentford scoring so early. City have got the whole game to take revenge.

The first chance for Mo Salah to run at the Forest defence but Dominik Szoboszlai gets the second part of a one-two all wrong and kills the momentum.

  12. Brentford's fast startpublished at 15:08 British Summer Time 14 September

    Man City 0-1 Brentford

    Simon Stone
BBC Sport's chief football news reporter at the Etihad Stadium

I was just writing about the minutes' applause for before kick-off for former England and Manchester City boss Sven Goran Eriksson when Brentford scored.

It was a real mess from John Stones and Ederson and Yoane Wissa stuck the ball into an empty net.

Bryan Mbeumo should have made it two when he was one-on-one with Ederson.

I have a member of the Brentford staff next to me. He was unimpressed by that judging by the ferocity he slammed his hands into the table.

    Man City 0-1 Brentford

Manchester City look somewhat all over the place here. Bryan Mbeumo is through on goal but can't quite sort his feet out and it's a piece of last-ditch defending from Rico Lewis which keeps the deficit to just one.

That goal actually came after 22 seconds, the fastest goal in the Premier League so far this season.

The question is, have Brentford just poked the bear?

  14. 'Liverpool have played with an excellent balance'published at 15:06 British Summer Time 14 September

    Liverpool 0-0 Nottingham Forest

    Chris Sutton
Former Celtic striker on BBC Radio 5 Live

You cannot be anything but impressed by the way Liverpool have started the season under Arne Slot.

Slot has gone about it in a understated way and Liverpool have played with an excellent balance.

  15. CLOSE!published at 15:06 British Summer Time 14 September

    Crystal Palace 0-0 Leicester

Jordan Ayew should really do better against his old club.

Leicester's Wilfred Ndidi stands one up to the back post but Ayew shoots into the ground and the ball bounces harmlessly over.

GOAL - Man City 0-1 Brentfordpublished at 15:02 British Summer Time 14 September

    Yoane Wissa (1 min)

Well, we've barely even got going at the Etihad before Yoane Wissa heads home from four yards out.

John Stones did not defend Keane Lewis-Potter's header back across goal and also evaded Ederson, leaving the Brentford striker with an empty net to head into.

Just 23 seconds on the clock. Incredible.
