Just before Chelsea walked out, the club unveiled two huge banners above the stadium to celebrate becoming world champions.
There is also a Shed End banner by the fans saying "champions of the world" and the club had fireworks for the walk out.
However, there have also been some issues reported by supporters in getting into the stadium as a new digital ticketing system is rolled out.
At least the stadium is full for the kick-off.

It was a difficult season for Igor Thiago overcoming that injury last year. There is realism from the Brentford fans that he has been out for a long time. The expectations need to be measured from that perspective, but at the same time there is the pressure of the Premier League. It is very unforgiving and people will scrutinise that area because Mbeumo and Wissa were such a lethal partnership.

Eberechi Eze is absolutely outstanding, in terms of what he can do when he receives the ball, when he makes assists and just the confidence he plays with as well.
He said he went some through difficult times at QPR and that helped him grow but he is a top player and I understand why all the top clubs are looking at him now.

I am really excited about how Chelsea are going to be a really attacking team I really think that this is going to be a really exciting season for Chelsea fans. I see the goals and togetherness in this team. They are a team experienced in winning and they will want to continue winning things.

It will be difficult for the Chelsea players to be as sharp as the Crystal Palace players today. Ten days of training is not a lot. I would not feel ready going into a Premier League game after just ten days of training and without the proper build up to it.
Nottingham Forest v Brentford (14:00 BST)
Nottingham Forest boss Nuno Espirito Santo, speaking to Sky Sports: "I think he [Dan Ndoye] can bring good things. He's still adapting to the team, but he's a talented player, so we have big hopes for him.
"I think all these games at the beginning of the season are new in terms of formation, in terms of bodies and the players.
"Now we are ready, and it is a very good team."

Conor McNamara
Commentator on BBC Radio 5 Live
We asked BBC Sport's TV and radio football commentators about the Premier League players that they are looking forward to watching this season.
Chelsea's new 18-year-old Brazilian winger, Estevao Willian, who is on the bench for the Blues today, was one of Conor McNamara's picks.
Conor McNamara: I commentated on Estevao's debut for Chelsea in their friendly against Bayer Leverkusen last week and the kid is a star.
He showed an excellent poachers' instinct to score his first goal in Chelsea blue, reacting well after Cole Palmer's shot had come back off the crossbar - but Estevao's game is all about running with the ball at high speed.
He only turned 18 in April, but the Brazilian looks the real deal.
It's early days of course, but he already seems to have a telepathy with Palmer - when the England international backheeled the ball on the edge of the area against Leverkusen, Estevao knew it was coming and got his shot away.
Estevao, nicknamed 'Messinho' or 'Little Messi', played against Chelsea at the Fifa Club World Cup in June. That was his final game for Palmeiras before moving to Stamford Bridge for an initial fee of £29m, a deal which was announced the previous summer

Brazilian football legend Romario is at Stamford Bridge today.
It may feel a little random but it is part of a series of activities he is doing in London.
I am sure he will be looking forward to seeing Estevao Willian, a teenage attacker dubbed the next big thing out of his country, make his competitive debut for Chelsea.
The 18-year-old starts on the bench but is likely to get on the pitch if his preseason performances are anything to go by.

Personally, I'm delighted for our CB injuries because Acheampong is the absolute business and this could be him cementing his first XI position for the rest of the year.

Chelsea, Club World Cup champions, return to Premier League action, but they are without Levi Colwill after he suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury.
Blues boss Enzo Maresca said Colwill's injury is "a big loss for us with how important he was for us last season for the way we want to play".
Looking ahead to the new season, Maresca has said there's been progress at Stamford Bridge. "When I joined one year ago, the noise around the club was completely different to now.
"This is for many reasons. My target and target of the team is to try to improve everyday and then we will see."
Chelsea's and Palace's fixtures last season both ended in a 1-1 draw, and Maresca expects a tough opening-day challenge.
"In two finals they beat the two best teams in England over the past 10 years in Manchester City and Liverpool. That shows how difficult it will be," said Maresca.
Chelsea v Crystal Palace (14:00 BST)
The FA Cup and Community Shield wins were "the biggest achievement" for Palace boss Oliver Glasner to help "create belief in the team".
Although Palace have a tough challenge at Stamford Bridge this afternoon, Glasner said, "We want to see if we are competitive or not. In the Community Shield, we got the answer - yes, we are. Now, one week later, we are facing the Club World Cup champions."
Similar to Chelsea, Palace also have their injury issues.
"No player is returning from injury. Not Eddie Nketiah, not Matheus Franca because they can't train with the team at the moment," said Glasner.
"Not Caleb Kporha. Of course, Cheick Doucoure and Chadi Riad are out for the next couple of months. The group of players we have available is not the biggest one [in terms of numbers]."
Nottingham Forest v Brentford (14:00 BST)
New Forest signings Omari Hutchinson and James McAtee are both out on the pitch at the City Ground, being introduced to the fans but neither was signed in time to play today.
Forest fans will be very excited to see these two in red very soon.

Keith Andrews was in and around the coaching, but his main focus was set-pieces.
I felt it was a continuity point for the club [appointing Andrews]. He has been an assistant to a couple of coaches, and I think he'll do a good job.
For the club, it was the right decision. They're a club that likes that continuity and Thomas Frank came in after previously being a coach there.
Brentford like to do things a bit different there.

People are writing both of these teams off for different reasons, and saying they won't be as good as last season.
As well as seeing their manager go to Spurs, Brentford have lost Bryan Mbeumo and Yoane Wissa seems to want out too, so the worry with them is who will get their goals?
I still think the Bees have enough battle-hardened Premier League players to compete, but maybe Kevin Schade needs a bit of help up top.
It is also going to be difficult for Nottingham Forest to go again and be as good as they were last year. They have sold Anthony Elanga and Chris Wood turns 34 in December - but at least they kept hold of Morgan Gibbs-White.
I think this will be very tight and quite a scruffy game but as long as Forest win it, they won't care.
Chris Sutton's prediction: 1-0
Chelsea v Crystal Palace (14:00 BST)
Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca speaking to Sky Sports: "We had just one week, 10 days for pre season. We had a short break but it was a good break."
On being without Tosin Adarabioyo and Levi Colwill: "Tosin had a small problem, an injury and hopefully we can have him ready for the next game. We are going to try with Josh [Acheampong] in that position. We are sure that he can improve and he can do that."
On choosing who was playing as the number nine today: "It is difficult but it is a nice choice because they [Liam Delap and Joao Pedro] are both very good. It is just the first game of the season. We have so many games this season that they are both going to help the team."
On what he is looking for from a centre forward: "If the striker scores 20 or 25 goals I am very happy! In the way we try to attack, we try to spread the attacking phase from the wingers to the attacking midfielders and the number nine. The idea is that all of the players can join the attacking phase and they can score goals."

I'm very positive. You look at the way they finished last season on a huge high with silverware, the way they dealt with the pre-season, they have gone into the Club World Cup and came out flourishing.
I think they are going to start strong but my only worry is there is going to be a bit of a hangover, a bit of a blip, and when that will come.
It is going to be one of the best Premier League seasons, very tight and competitive, and Chelsea will be in the mix.

Chris Sutton
Former Premier League striker
There is real excitement about Chelsea at the moment.
They have just won the Fifa Club World Cup but the Premier League is the one they want and I bet one or two of their fans are thinking they have got half a chance this season.
This game might be a reminder of how hard that is going to be, because Crystal Palace are such a well-balanced and dangerous side under Oliver Glasner.
I still think Chelsea will win, though. They have a few options up front now and some versatile attackers too, so they can try different ways to break Palace down.
Sutton's prediction: 2-1

I think we'll all see just how good a manager Thomas Frank was at Brentford. Odds on for the drop this season I'd say.

Brentford have lost Bryan Mbeumo and if they lose Yoane Wissa then that’s a lot of goals taken out of a Premier League side on top of an unknown manager [Keith Andrews].
