  1. Postpublished at 12:48 Greenwich Mean Time 4 January

    Cambridge 0-0 Bristol Rovers

The Gas have a promising moment on the counter-attack when Jamie Lindsay spots forward Scott Sinclair by himself on the left flank and sends in a perfectly weighted ball.

Sinclair does well to drive the ball into the box but sends his shot north of the target.

  2. 'Rovers can be dangerous'published at 12:47 Greenwich Mean Time 4 January

    Cambridge 0-0 Bristol Rovers

    Ed Hadwin
    Commentator on BBC Radio Bristol

After what has been a bright start for Bristol Rovers, it's Cambridge who have had the better of the last five minutes.

When Rovers get the ball down and play it quickly, they can be dangerous.

  3. YELLOW CARDpublished at 12:47 Greenwich Mean Time 4 January

    Burton 0-0 Northampton

A nice burst from inside his own half by Burton's Udoka Godwin-Malife who threads it through to Nick Akoto on the right.

He feeds a ball into the box but Northampton clear it for a corner. The set-piece drops to the edge of the box and Cobblers defender Aaron McGowan is brought down by Charlie Webster as he tries to race away.

Webster is booked for the challenge.

  4. Postpublished at 12:46 Greenwich Mean Time 4 January

    Notts County 0-0 Swindon

Swindon carve out their first attempt at goal but Paul Glatzel's effort flies over the crossbar.

  5. Postpublished at 12:44 Greenwich Mean Time 4 January

    Notts County 0-0 Swindon

Notts County are the side creating at the moment.

David McGoldrick plays in Josh Martin, but the winger's shot is blocked.

  6. Postpublished at 12:44 Greenwich Mean Time 4 January

    Burton 0-0 Northampton

Gary Bowyer is taking charge of his fifth game as Burton boss today. The Brewers lost their first two under Bowyer, albeit against tough opponents in their second game at Birmingham. They’ve picked up two draws since then.

Meanwhile, it's five games without a win coming into today for Northampton, who are also under new management in the shape of ex-Bolton, Newcastle and West Ham player Kevin Nolan whose first game was on Boxing Day.

No real chances to speak of at the Pirelli Stadium just yet. A bit cagey, which you can probably understand in the circumstances.

  7. 'Swindon will be pleased with this start'published at 12:42 Greenwich Mean Time 4 January

    Notts County 0-0 Swindon

    Mark Stallard
Former Notts County striker on BBC Radio Nottingham

The opening of this game has been quite frenetic.

Swindon are flooding bodies forward, they move in numbers and there is space to do so.

  8. YELLOW CARDpublished at 12:42 Greenwich Mean Time 4 January

    Cambridge 0-0 Bristol Rovers

The Gas are awarded the first corner of the afternoon but it turns out to be somewhat of a curse.

The visitors can't get a hold of the ball when it's headed out by a man in orange and it ends up finding its way to home feet in the other half.

Gas midfielder Grant Ward feels the need to bring Josh Stokes down and gets a yellow card for his troubles.

  9. 'Rovers moving it around quickly'published at 12:40 Greenwich Mean Time 4 January

    Cambridge 0-0 Bristol Rovers

    Lee Mansell
Former Bristol Rovers midfielder on BBC Radio Bristol

Possession really well kept by Bristol Rovers so far, they've moved it around quickly.

There is no dawdling at the back which I think will be crucial today.

  10. HITS THE WOODWORKpublished at 12:37 Greenwich Mean Time 4 January

    Notts County 0-0 Swindon

So close to an early opener for the home side at Meadow Lane.

Sam Austin puts in an excellent cross which David McGoldrick meets but his looping header comes off the bar.

    He's unlucky there.

  11. Postpublished at 12:37 Greenwich Mean Time 4 January

    Cambridge 0-0 Bristol Rovers

The early stages have gone all the visitors way so far.

Gas midfielder Jamie Lindsay gets the first go at goal of the game but his effort is a tame one and an easy warm-up for the Cambridge keeper to collect.

Their frontman gets the next chance to test to the keeper after the home side concede a free kick right outside the penalty area but Chris Martin sends it flying high.

  12. Postpublished at 12:36 Greenwich Mean Time 4 January

    Burton 0-0 Northampton

Burton, who are rooted to the foot of the League One table and in desperate need of a win, are knocking it about in their own half in the early stages.

Just two wins all season for the Brewers. How they'd love one today.

  13. Postpublished at 12:33 Greenwich Mean Time 4 January

    Burton 0-0 Northampton

Burton are straight up the other end through Nick Akoto who fizzes a ball across the face of the goal but no one is gambling and it goes out of play.

  14. Postpublished at 12:32 Greenwich Mean Time 4 January

    Burton 0-0 Northampton

Sam Hoskins gets on the end of an early ball into the box from the left by Mitch Pinnock for Northampton, but hooks his effort wide of the post from about 15 yards.

A tough chance and it was behind him to be fair.

  15. KICK-OFFpublished at 12:31 Greenwich Mean Time 4 January

Off we go in our three 12:30 GMT kick-offs. Two games in League One and one in League Two.

Bradford v Grimsby in the fourth tier gets under way in half an hour in the other early game.

  16. Teams are outpublished at 12:28 Greenwich Mean Time 4 January

The players are out at Burton, Cambridge and Notts County. It's 2°C in each of those places. Plenty of bobble hats and gloves on show in the stands.

    Kick-off is almost upon us...

  17. Gas boss Calderon seeks first win at the Abbeypublished at 12:25 Greenwich Mean Time 4 January

Cambridge v Bristol Rovers (12:30 GMT)

It's been a tough start to life in League One for new Bristol Rovers boss Inigo Calderon.

His first two games have both ended in defeat, closing 2024 with a 3-0 loss to Stevenage and ringing in the new year with a closer 3-2 encounter with the in-form Leyton Orient.

Fans of the Gas might have been prepared for Calderon to not hit the ground running given their miserable season so far, but they could be less forgiving if the trip to Cambridge in the early afternoon kick-off doesn't run smoothly.

United have lost their past four league matches to see them just three points above basement dwellers Burton Albion.

For both the Gas and their hosts, a win here would give them a glimpse of hope at survival while a loss... well, the outlook would not seem so optimistic.

  18. Can Brewers cobble something together?published at 12:22 Greenwich Mean Time 4 January

    Burton v Northampton (12:30 GMT)

Bottom side Burton Albion welcome Northampton Town to the Pirelli Stadium for a vital game at the bottom of League One.

The Brewers are eight points adrift from safety and threw away a two-goal lead in their 2-2 draw with Peterborough on New Year's Day to deny them a first win in six games.

Gary Bowyer's side have tasted victory just twice all season and face a Northampton Town team in equally poor form.

The 19th-placed Cobblers have slightly steadied things under new boss Kevin Nolan, drawing their past two games, but have now won just once in 12 (D5 L6).

Something has to give this afternoon, you'd think, with a draw probably not an ideal result for either.

  19. League One tablepublished at 12:20 Greenwich Mean Time 4 January

League One table on 4 January

Wycombe and Birmingham will both look to strengthen their grip on the automatic promotion places, while Wrexham could break back in if results go their way.

Today's big games at the bottom could also have a major impact on the relegation battle with Burton looking to get off the foot of the table and Cambridge trying to close the gap to Bristol Rovers.

  20. Table neighbours Bradford and Grimsby look to greater heightspublished at 12:18 Greenwich Mean Time 4 January

    Bradford v Grimsby (13:00 GMT)

There's little to separate Bradford City and Grimsby Town.

Just two points, in fact, with both teams lying within touching distance of the play-off spots and in a league so tightly compact at the top, the promotion race as it stands is an all-out brawl for points.

Both teams will be desperate to pull apart from each other but in which direction, that's completely dependent on today's performance.

Bradford City are boosting their squad by adding League One Birmingham City's Brandon Khela on loan, while Grimsby will be hoping striker Danny Rose has another opportunity to haunt the Bantam faithful.

Rose scored in both the reverse fixture this season as well as in his last trip to Valley Parade, with the Mariners taking points in both (W1 D1).
