    West Brom 0-0 Millwall

We're almost 15 minutes in and Millwall have barely had a kick. West Brom have enjoyed a massive 90% of the possession so far.

The Baggies win a corner and Darnell Furlong gets on the end of it but his header goes wide.

That's the first shot of the game.

The birthday boy gives the home side the lead!

Jesurun Rak-Sakyi, 22 today, gets his first goal for the Blades.

The livewire winger hammers gets the ball in the area, beats a defender and smashes a shot past Thomas Kaminski.

The unbeaten Blades are going level with Championship leaders Sunderland as it stands.

  5. Postpublished at 15:12 British Summer Time 5 October

    Swansea 0-0 Stoke

The unfortunate Josh Tymon proved the match-winner for Sheffield United against Swansea on Wednesday night with an unfortunate goal, kneeing a cross past Lawrence Vigouroux while facing his own goal.

He had his heart in his mouth again just now as Stoke's Liverpool loanee Lewis Koumas went down in the box under pressure, but the referee waves play-on.

    West Brom 0-0 Millwall

It's a cagey start at The Hawthorns, which might have been expected given the last two meetings on this ground between these two sides ended goalless.

West Brom have had the vast majority of the ball but neither side have had a shot yet.

BBC Final Score at Swansea.com Stadium

Wales manager Craig Bellamy sat just a few rows in front of me.

Plenty of Welsh interest in these two squads. An injury-hit midfield contingent will be of particular interest for Bellamy.

Ollie Cooper will be hoping for a good game for Swansea. Joe Allen, just out of international retirement is on the bench. Young Lewis Koumas has made a bright start to his Stoke loan spell.

  10. Postpublished at 15:07 British Summer Time 5 October

    Swansea 0-0 Stoke

The hosts are on the attack early on and Ronald has seen a shot saved by the fingertips of Viktor Johansson diving full stretch.

  11. Postpublished at 15:06 British Summer Time 5 October

    Watford 0-0 Middlesbrough

The first big chance of the game goes to Middlesbrough at Vicarage Road as Finn Azaz gets on the end of a great cross from Luke Ayling.

He's unable to divert his glancing header on target and it goes just wide.

    A good start for Boro.

  12. Postpublished at 15:05 British Summer Time 5 October

    Plymouth 0-0 Blackburn

Early sight of goal for the visitors as the recalled Makhtar Gueye beats Dan Grimshaw but is denied by Argyle defender Lewis Gibson after being found by Tyrhys Dolan.

Their teammate Andi Weimann is making his 500th club appearance this afternoon, quite a milestone for the Austrian.

  14. Red Devils' reunionpublished at 14:58 British Summer Time 5 October

    Watford v Middlesbrough (15:00 BST)

    Charlie Slater
BBC Final Score at Vicarage Road

A reunion of former Manchester United midfielders Tom Cleverley and Michael Carrick.

Both in their first managerial jobs, both targeting promotion and both wishing their friend luck…after they get today out of the way, anyway.

With the sun shining in Watford, Cleverley will be relieved to be home where he’s yet to lose as manager, especially after a midweek humbling at Preston. He’s promising to "re-evaluate" how they approach away games.

Middlesbrough are off to their best start for six seasons and approaching the second anniversary of Carrick’s appointment, there’s now pressure to make good on a couple of years' promise.

    Derby v QPR (15:00 BST)

Paul Warne shoutingImage source, Rex Features

Derby will be seeking to stop their mini-slide when QPR visit Pride Park later.

The Rams saw their seven-month and nine-game home winning streak ended in controversial fashion by Norwich last Saturday, and, given that is where all their points have come from this season, Paul Warne will be keen to start a new one at the first opportunity.

The hosts have not enjoyed great success against the Hoops, however, with Rangers taking 12 points from the past five encounters, and are looking to win away at Derby for a third straight time – something they have never previously done.

Though Marti Cifuentes’ side are winless in four and were well beaten at home by Hull City on Tuesday, they have proved a tough nut to crack on the road, losing only two of 11 on their travels in the Championship and earning 19 points.

County have now lost three in a row after their 2-0 reverse at Sunderland in mid-week so something has to give this afternoon…

It's been a while since Sheffield Wednesday last won a league game at Coventry City.

Well, 29 years to be exact.

Guy Whittingham grabbed the winner for the Owls at Highfield Road in the Premier League back in October 1995.

There's been 13 unsuccessful trips to play the Sky Blues, at various grounds, for Wednesday since then.

Both teams have eight points from eight games so far this campaign.

    Tom Gayle
    Commentator on Final Score

Before moving from the press room I overheard a group of West Brom journalists who were united in the view this is Carlos Corberan's best starting XI.

I also eavesdropped on a conversation involving a Millwall member of staff.

They were explaining how Tuesday's defeat at Cardiff was a horrendous performance, and there is no way Neil Harris will accept a similar drop in standards here today.

  18. Blades showing bouncebackability while Hatters hoverpublished at 14:50 British Summer Time 5 October

Sheff Utd v Luton (15:00 BST)

Sheffield United players hugImage source, Rex Features

These two teams were relegated from the Premier League together last season but their starts to this campaign could hardly have been more different.

Eight games in and the unbeaten Blades have already equalled their points tally from their dismal 2023-24, and that's after having started the season with a two-point deduction.

Luton, who made a better fist of things in the top flight, have picked up just eight points from their first eight games and are just one point above the bottom three.

A glimmer of hope for the Hatters (and almost certainly the most niche stat you'll see today) - Sheffield United have lost 14 of their past 18 league matches against teams whose name starts with a L.

If it's to be 15 in 19 Luton will need to do something no side has managed to do against Sheffield United in the Championship since 24 August. Score.

  19. Goals guaranteed in Swansea?published at 14:48 British Summer Time 5 October

    Swansea v Stoke (15:00 BST)

    Laura Kenyon
BBC Final Score at Swansea.com Stadium

The stage is set in south Wales. Glorious weather for this mid-table clash, just a hint of crisp October chill in the air.

Some wise words from former Wales international Iwan Roberts as we arrived: “Always bring a coat, it’s all about the layers."

In 40 league meetings between these two sides, not a single goalless draw… commentator’s curse pending.

An emphatic win for Stoke midweek, putting six past Portsmouth, got the Narcis Pelach era up and running. This ground has been somewhat of a fortress for Swansea this season though so it should be a good encounter.

  20. Potters aiming to take momentum on their travelspublished at 14:46 British Summer Time 5 October

    Swansea v Stoke (15:00 BST)

Tom Cannon celebrates scoringImage source, Rex Features

This one is far more intriguingly poised than many might have imagined it would be over the past couple of months.

Stoke come in off the back of the 6-1 mauling of Portsmouth on Wednesday night when Tom Cannon helped himself to a fantastic four-timer while the Potters bagged five goals in a 13-minute blitz either side of the break.

Narcis Pelach’s men have lost three of their last four on the road, however, failing to score in any of those defeats, and have lost on their last two visits to Wales too – their worst run in 65 years.

Swansea went down 1-0 at Sheffield United through Josh Tymon’s nightmare own-goal but they have started the season positively and are looking to make it five games unbeaten at home to start a season for the first time in 13 years.

Luke Williams’ side have allowed just six goals in their opening eight games, only three teams have conceded fewer, but it’s at the other end they need to get going – their eight goals scored is third-lowest in the division.

This has 0-0 or 3-3 written all over it, surely?
