Guernsey FC boss Tony Vance says his side deserved their first league win in more than three months.

The Green Lions' 3-0 victory over 10-man Uxbridge was their first victory since the opening day of the season- ending a 14-game winless run.

They remain in the relegation places in Isthmian League South Central but are one of five teams separated by a point.

"It's a great result. I think we've been deserving three points for a while now," Vance told BBC Radio Guernsey.

"Anyone who's seen our performances will probably echo that comment and will understand what I'm saying.

"We haven't got ourselves over the line, so most importantly to get three points was fantastic and to score three goals and get a clean sheet, I'm really pleased with that."

Both sides had to deal with a 30-minute delay in the second half after Uxbridge striker Bernard Mensah suffered a serious knee injury and had to be taken to hospital.

But Guernsey kept their composure to secure the victory.

"It was a good all-round performance, and it got difficult with the guy who got injured," Vance added.

"But ultimately when that incident happened it probably stopped us scoring a few more.

"But I'm not going to get carried away, my feet are on the ground, I know where we are."
