    Chelmsford 2-1 Braintree

Almost 2-2 in an instant as Braintree break at pace and the ball finds Chay Cooper on the right of the area who can only bend a curling effort past Chris Haigh's right post.

Wonderful tie bubbling up here for us.

  2. 'A chance out of nothing'published at 12:40 GMT 1 November

    Chelmsford 2-1 Braintree

    Lee Barnard
Former Chelmsford and Braintree forward on BBC Radio Essex

    Braintree looked out of it.

They got a penalty and it is 2-1.They have been given a chance in this game out of nothing.

You can see a lot more urgency from Braintree now, and it looks like this could be a good game.

  3. goal

GOAL: Chelmsford 2-1 Braintreepublished at 37 mins

    John Akinde

John Akinde with the coolest penalty you'll see, right into the bottom corner.

He's not scored this season but class is permanent as Akinde slots low past Chris Haigh's left hand into the corner.

    Game on.

  4. PENALTY TO BRAINTREEpublished at 36 mins

    Chelmsford 2-0 Braintree

Ricky Holmes slides in to block a cross with his arm raised, the ball hits it, it's a penalty.

  5. Postpublished at 36 mins

    Chelmsford 2-0 Braintree

You can see why Chelmsford are aiming for promotion this season, Sam Folarin and Jason Adigun look very lively in attack, and of course there's Lyle Taylor's goals.

The offside flag prevents Folarin breaking free to threaten a third.

  6. Postpublished at 32 mins

    Chelmsford 2-0 Braintree

The Clarets are showing no signs of letting up and are off in search of a third just half an hour in.

Braintree are nearly six weeks removed from their past win in the National League and their lack of confidence is starting to show.

They're at sixes and sevens at the back (don't even think about saying it!) as a sliced clearance loops towards Jack Thompson who races off his line but drops the ball as he clatters into his own defender, though the loose ball is hacked away from the lurking Lyle Taylor.

  7. 'Chelmsford going for more'published at 12:32 GMT 1 November

    Chelmsford 2-0 Braintree

    Lee Barnard
Former Chelmsford and Braintree forward on BBC Radio Essex

There is a long way to go and it can all change, but it does feel like there is only one team in it.

Chelmsford look like they are going for more.

  8. goal

GOAL: Chelmsford 2-0 Braintreepublished at 28 mins

    Lyle Taylor

    Via a MASSIVE deflection.

A low cross from the right breaks to Lyle Taylor on the edge of the box to steady himself and fire in a low shot with his left foot which takes a wicked deflection off a defender to wrong-foot Jack Thompson and trickle into the right corner past his despairing dive.

That's 11 goals for the young season for Taylor, and Chelmsford are in dreamland.

  9. Postpublished at 27 mins

    Chelmsford 1-0 Braintree

Braintree's Marley Marshall-Miranda does brilliantly to wriggle his way round his marker on the left of the Chelmsford box but is crowded out on the byeline and though he tumbles to turf looking imploringly at the referee, nothing doing.

  10. 'Braintree need a reaction'published at 12:28 GMT 1 November

    Chelmsford 1-0 Braintree

    Lee Barnard
Former Chelmsford and Braintree forward on BBC Radio Essex

I want to see a reaction from Braintree, as I haven't seen them reply with anything at the moment.

If they don't do something soon you feel as if this game is going to slip away from them.

  11. CLOSE!published at 24 mins

    Chelmsford 1-0 Braintree

Ricky Holmes swings in a cross from the City left which David Longe-King meets with a towering header which is powerful but off target.

The Clarets fans are having fun in the sun at present, singing 'que sera, sera, whatever will be, will be, we're going to Wembley'.

Why not, eh? It's what these days are all about...

  12. 'Celebrations have erupted'published at 12:25 GMT 1 November

    Chelmsford 1-0 Braintree

    Victoria Polley
    BBC Radio Essex commentator

Celebrations have erupted around Melbourne Park, and there is a flare being removed from the pitch.

You would have to say Chelmsford are the team that deserve it.

  13. goal

GOAL: Chelmsford 1-0 Braintreepublished at 20 mins

    Jason Adigun

    What a cool finish...

Keeper Jack Thompson makes a hash of a clearing kick under pressure and it's straight to Sam Folarin who drives past his man and then bides his time before sliding left to the overlapping Jason Adigun, who fires a low finish across goal with his left foot, past Thompson's left hand, to take the roof off.

This FA Cup Saturday is alive and kicking, the National League South side lead their higher-division neighbours.

  14. 'Harrop will be the happier manager'published at 12:19 GMT 1 November

    Chelmsford 0-0 Braintree

    Lee Barnard
Former Chelmsford and Braintree forward on BBC Radio Essex

Angelo Harrop will be the happier of the two managers at the moment.

It is a close game and nothing has really been created.

Braintree have had a couple of breakaways, but I reckon Chelmsford will be the happier of the two teams so far.

  15. CLOSE!published at 16 mins

    Chelmsford 0-0 Braintree

    Lyle Taylor fluffs his lines.

A long ball sends Jesurun Uchegbulam down the right flank and his brilliant pull back into the middle is met by Taylor who can't get a clean connection and bobbles his effort past the far post.

Great chance for a player of his experience.

  16. CLOSE!published at 13 mins

    Chelmsford 0-0 Braintree

Former Bristol City, Lincoln, Wycombe and Barnet man John Akinde is up top for Braintree and after winning the first corner of the game, which comes to nothing, he gets the ball back on the break, shuffles just outside the area to jink between two defenders but can only lash over the angle of post and bar from the edge of the box.

  17. 'Chelmsford will have to be aware'published at 12:13 GMT 1 November

    Chelmsford 0-0 Braintree

    Lee Barnard
Former Chelmsford and Braintree forward on BBC Radio Essex

Chelmsford have started well, and have played most of their football in the Braintree half.

But we know Braintree are good on the break, so Chelmsford will have to be aware.

They are very dangerous and can quickly spring clear when on the attack.

  18. Postpublished at 11 mins

    Chelmsford 0-0 Braintree

This is brilliant. Not in terms of quality, just yet, but the intensity and enthusiasm. These players, and clubs, know each other so well, and we all get to watch them go at it.

If this pace keeps up then you can expect the final half-hour to be carnage as legs and minds tire.

    Chelmsford 0-0 Braintree

Sam Folarin has looked a threat down the right for the Clarets in the early stages but after a lightning break from their own half, his cross into the middle is cleared.

Ricky Holmes, a seasoned EFL campaigner, manages to get the ball back into the mixer but Jason Adigun's effort flies wide of Jack Thompson's goal - the young Town keeper is on loan from Derby County.
