The one thing that all the top teams possess is an incredible work rate, that goes to another level when they lose the ball. Bayern already showing that... not rocket science is it?!

Bayern, if they misplace passes, there's a chance for Villa on the counter attack.

They just need to be clinical.

  6. Postpublished at 20:13 British Summer Time 2 October

Bayern have had 80% of the ball so far. The home fans cheer as a Bayern defender deals with a long ball while Ollie Watkins is on his shoulder but the striker doesn't get a chance.

  7. 'Kompany is a winner'published at 20:13 British Summer Time 2 October

    Aston Villa 0-0 Bayern Munich

    Owen Hargreaves
Former Bayern midfielder on TNT Sports

I think they've been impressed [in Munich].

Vinny's a winner and he has got Bayern playing really aggressive in terms with the ball, without the ball.

But in the end, he knows, this club is all about results.

  8. Cheers to tearspublished at 20:12 British Summer Time 2 October

    Liverpool 1-0 Bologna

    Michael Emons
    BBC Sport at Anfield

The Bologna fans were still celebrating long after the assistant's flag had been raised to deny Dutch forward Thijs Dallinga an early goal, after he had slotted past Alisson, but had started his run too early.

But those cheers are soon replaced with louder ones from the Liverpool contingent with Alexis Mac Allister tapping in from close range to put the Reds ahead after Mohamed Salah's excellent cross.

That was a lovely team goal.

You are not missing from here. Look where he ends up, volleying the ball from, the goalkeeper is in the back of the net.

    Delicious that.

  10. 'Villa had to scramble to get that clear'published at 20:12 British Summer Time 2 October

    Aston Villa 0-0 Bayern Munich

    Chris Sutton
Former Premier League striker on BBC Radio 5 Live at Villa Park

The timing of the run from Serge Gnabry was absolutely superb, he tried to spot Harry Kane at the far post who may have been offside. Villa really had to scramble to get that clear. Bayern are completely dominating.

Villa's fans are giving their side deafening support, with even a venture into Bayern's half being rapturously received.

There are some ominous early signs from Bayern so Villa must see through this testing period.

    Aston Villa 0-0 Bayern Munich

It's been a confident start from Bayern Munich, Aston Villa haven't been able to string two passes together as of yet.

The save just now from Emi Martinez was sensational, got down well and stopped the header from Harry Kane with his boot. The Villa defenders will have to watch out for that run.

    Aston Villa 0-0 Bayern Munich

    Owen Hargreaves
Former Bayern midfielder on TNT Sports

Vincent Kompany has them playing super aggressive, in one half of the pitch.

It's going to be tough for Villa to get the ball, but I do think there will be space in behind if they can release Ollie Watkins.
