  1. 'That shouldn't happen at this level'published at 20:23 British Summer Time 2 October

    Liverpool 1-0 Bologna

    Steve McManaman
Former Liverpool winger on TNT Sports

The [Bologna] manager has been going crazy and rightly so.

It has gone from a corner to 20 seconds later Liverpool nearly scoring.

That doesn't happen or certainly shouldn't happen at this level.

  2. Postpublished at 20:23 British Summer Time 2 October

    Liverpool 1-0 Bologna

Darwin Nunez races onto a ball into the box, the bounce is a touch awkward but he does manage to connect with a first-time strike but it is straight at Lukasz Skorupski.

  3. YELLOW CARDpublished at 20:23 British Summer Time 2 October

    Aston Villa 0-0 Bayern Munich

It's happened again but this time he is penalised. Ollie Watkins spins Dayot Upamecano, who pulls him down. There were men behind him so it's only a yellow card. But if he'd been booked for the first one...

  4. Postpublished at 20:21 British Summer Time 2 October

    Liverpool 1-0 Bologna

After that Bologna corner, Alisson quickly sends the ball up field and Mohamed Salah collects it on the right side of the visitors' box. He crosses low but Bologna clear.

  5. 'Villa are not playing their normal game'published at 20:21 British Summer Time 2 October

    Aston Villa 0-0 Bayern Munich

    Thomas Hitzlsperger
Former Aston Villa midfielder on MOTD: Uefa Champions League

Aston Villa are being very tentative so far, it doesn’t feel like they are playing their normal game. It's because it is Bayern, but it all feels very unfamiliar which is not a good thing.

Villa are trying to go man for man when Bayern have the ball but it is not really working. Jaden Philogene is being asked to defend, but he doesn’t really want to, so he has not really been involved.

You can hear more from Hitzlsperger on MOTD: Uefa Champions League at 22:40 BST on BBC One and the BBC Sport website and app.

  6. Postpublished at 20:20 British Summer Time 2 October

    Liverpool 1-0 Bologna

Bologna have a corner as Andy Robertson takes no chances with a cross, thumping it behind his own goal.

It was the correct decision as the delivery from the set piece is cleared.

  7. Postpublished at 20:20 British Summer Time 2 October

    Aston Villa 0-0 Bayern Munich

    Lucy Ward
Former Leeds striker on TNT Sports

How is that not a foul?

Watkins did everything right in terms of getting his body in between him and Upamecano.

They look lovely and sharp don't they Liverpool.

  9. Celebrating earlypublished at 20:19 British Summer Time 2 October

    Liverpool 1-0 Bologna

    Michael Emons
    BBC Sport at Anfield

Liverpool boss Arne Slot, standing at the edge of the technical area, had his arm raised in celebration when Darwin Nunez raced through, before the striker calmly finished past Lukasz Skorupski, only for the Uruguayan to be denied by an assistant's flag.

That's a goal apiece for either side ruled out for offside in a very open and entertaining opening 17 minutes.

An applause from Slot in his team's direction at Nunez's finish and the build-up, although his side were denied a second goal.

  10. Postpublished at 20:19 British Summer Time 2 October

    Aston Villa 0-0 Bayern Munich

A replay shows Dayot Upamecano does clip Ollie Watkins there and all I can say he's a very lucky man.

  11. Postpublished at 20:19 British Summer Time 2 October

    Liverpool 1-0 Bologna

It feels like only a matter of time before Liverpool get a second as Dominik Szoboszlai sends a first-time strike just wide of the far post.

The Reds are playing some really good stuff.

  12. 'Upamecano could have seen red'published at 20:19 British Summer Time 2 October

    Aston Villa 0-0 Bayern Munich

    Chris Sutton
Former Premier League striker on BBC Radio 5 Live at Villa Park

It was a good spot to play Ollie Watkins into the right hand channel, I thought he got his body in between himself and the defender. It was a strong challenge from Dayot Upamecano but the referee waved it away. Had that been given Upamecano could have seen red.

I think it was a foul, soft or not, there was clear contact.

Absolutely love what Klopp brought and did for Liverpool & will never forget it. But this new style Slot has brought (even though it’s early days) is the perfect follow up.

    Aston Villa 0-0 Bayern Munich

    Nick Mashiter
    BBC Sport football news reporter

Villa have kept just one clean sheet this season and managed just eight in the Premier League last term.

Bayern have scored 30 goals in seven games under Vincent Kompany, including their 9-2 thumping of Dinamo Zagreb in their Champions League opener.

The visitors have dominated the opening 15 minutes but Villa scored seven goals on the counter attack last season, the fifth best in the Premier League, and will always be a threat.

  15. Postpublished at 20:17 British Summer Time 2 October

    Aston Villa 0-0 Bayern Munich

Home fans are screaming for a Bayern red card. Ollie Watkins runs onto a through ball, if he gets past the last man Dayot Upamecano he's one on one. He goes down. If this is a foul it's a red card but the referee says it's not a foul.

  16. Benfica lead against Atleticopublished at 20:17 British Summer Time 2 October

    Benfica 1-0 Atletico Madrid

Benfica take an early lead in Lisbon against Atletico Madrid as Kerem Akturkoglu scores from about 15 yards for the two-time European champions. Benfica are on course for six points from two games after winning their opening Champions League game 2-1 away to Red Star Belgrade.

  17. 'Much better from Villa'published at 20:17 British Summer Time 2 October

    Aston Villa 0-0 Bayern Munich

    Chris Sutton
Former Premier League striker on BBC Radio 5 Live at Villa Park

Ollie Watkins gets up well at the back post and it takes a clear nick off Kim Min-jae. Much, much better from Villa.

  18. 'Always eager to go'published at 20:16 British Summer Time 2 October

    Liverpool 1-0 Bologna

    Steve McManaman
Former Liverpool winger on TNT Sports

You could clearly see. I think he was offside initially, always eager to go and he doesn't need to.

  19. Postpublished at 20:16 British Summer Time 2 October

    Aston Villa 0-0 Bayern Munich

Chance for Villa! Lucas Digne runs down the left and floats in an excellent cross. Ollie Watkins and Kim Min-jae go for the ball and the Villa striker gets the final touch but it goes wide.

  20. DISALLOWED GOALpublished at 20:16 British Summer Time 2 October

    Liverpool 1-0 Bologna

The flag is up for offside again, this time to deny Liverpool. Darwin Nunez strides away to meet a pass and hammers a fine finish into the back of the net, but he was just off.
