Liverpool are in a tricky situation.

They've lost a bit of confidence going out to PSG [in the Champions League]. Newcastle deservedly winning the cup and a couple of couple of dodgy games in-between.

Arsenal won last night and they're trying to put pressure on Liverpool.

This is a city that has football running through their red (or blue) veins.

The stadiums of Liverpool and Everton are separated by just a park and there will be split loyalties for this game.

Blues boss David Moyes said in his pre-match news conference: "I think the Merseyside derby is slightly different.

"There are families where half are Liverpool supporters and half of Everton. This city has lots of family members who could easily be a blue or a red."

  3. 'Don't think we'll see Liverpool wobble'published at 18:52 British Summer Time 2 April

    Liverpool v Everton (20:00 BST)

    Chris Sutton
    BBC football expert

Liverpool have had a break since going out of the Champions League and losing the Carabao Cup final, and I don't think we will see them wobble here. Quite the opposite in fact, now their focus is just on the Premier League.

The Reds also felt wronged by Everton's late equaliser at Goodison Park in February so there will be all of that bubbling under, and Arne Slot's side will feel they have a point to prove.

They are going to put Everton under all sorts of pressure, but the Toffees will be well organised defensively and have an eye on a counter-attack too.

Everton boss David Moyes has transformed a team that was lacking belief, and he would love nothing more than to go to Anfield and get something.

I am expecting a typical derby, in that I would not be surprised if this is another emotional game as well as an explosive one, with maybe a couple of players losing their heads.

There will be plenty of drama along the way, but I am pretty sure Liverpool will be back to their best form and end up taking the three points.

    Sutton's prediction: 2-0

  5. Can Moyes end his Anfield misery?published at 18:49 British Summer Time 2 April

    Liverpool v Everton (20:00 BST)

For David Moyes, Anfield has become the stuff of nightmares.

Twenty one matches managed there, no wins, 14 defeats and 36 goals conceded - and the Everton boss isn't expecting life to get any easier when the Toffees visit runaway league leaders Liverpool in the Premier League on Wednesday.

Moyes, 61, whose Everton side are 36 points behind Liverpool, said: "We might be further away from Liverpool than we have ever been at the moment.

"When we left here, we were much closer to Liverpool, we were competitive, competing around the same areas in the league. At the moment it is probably the biggest gulf between the two clubs."

    Liverpool v Everton (20:00 BST)

    Shamoon Hafez

    Liverpool v Everton

Liverpool make one change from their Carabao Cup final loss by Newcastle and manager Arne Slot has sprung a surprise.

Curtis Jones comes in at right-back in place of Jarell Quansah, who drops to the bench.

Caoimhin Kelleher starts in goal as Alisson has failed to recover from concussion suffered on international duty with Brazil.

Liverpool XI: Kelleher, Jones, Konate, Van Dijk, Robertson, Gravenberch, Mac Allister, Szoboszlai, Salah, Diaz, Jota.

    Liverpool v Everton

Everton are unchanged from the late 1-1 draw they secured against West Ham last time out.

But the Toffees have been boosted by the return of forward Iliman Ndiaye, who is on the bench after missing the last five games because of a knee injury suffered in the reverse fixture.

Vitalii Mykolenko has recovered from a thigh problem sustained with Ukraine and starts at left-beck.

Everton XI: Pickford, O'Brien, Tarkowski, Branthwaite, Mykolenko, Gueye, Garner, Harrison, Alcaraz, Doucoure, Beto.

Nottingham Forest won 1-0 against Manchester United last night to strengthen their claim to Champions League qualification, but Nuno Espirito Santo's side are also into the FA Cup semi-finals.

Newcastle won the Carabao Cup and are still pushing to finish in the top four, as are Man City.

Crystal Palace are in the semi-finals of the FA Cup but sit 12th in the Premier League table, and Aston Villa continue to fight on three fronts this term too.

This all begs the question, would you take a trophy over European qualification or would you prefer the guarantee of European away days next term over silverware?

  8. Team news: No Kluivert for Bournemouth, captain Morsy back for Ipswichpublished at 18:42 British Summer Time 2 April

Bournemouth v Ipswich Town (19:45 BST)

    Bournemouth

Bournemouth welcome back defenders Milos Kerkez and Dean Huijsen, who both missed the FA Cup quarter-final defeat by Manchester City through suspension. Top scorer Justin Kluivert is not in the squad after picking up a knock during that match.

Bournemouth XI: Arrizabalaga, Kerkez, Huijsen, Smith, Zabaryni, Cook, Scott, Christie, Ouattara, Semenyo, Evanilson.

Subs: Dennis, Senesi, Brooks, Adams, Hill, Silcott-Duberry, Winterburn, Soler, Jebbison.

    Ipswich Town

Ipswich Town have not played since 15 March and Kieran McKenna makes six changes to that starting line-up with club captain Sam Morsy among those to be recalled, while Omari Hutchinson misses out altogether.

Ipswich Town XI: Palmer, Burgess, O'Shea, Johnson, Tuanzebe, Morsy, Cajuste, Townsend, Enciso, Broadhead, Delap.

Subs: Walton, Woolfenden, Greaves, Phillips, Taylor, Chaplin, Philogene, Clarke, Hirst.

Brighton v Aston Villa (19:45 BST)

Brighton come into this game off the back of FA Cup heartbreak while Aston Villa booked their spot at Wembley.

Villa's incredible season continues with a Champions League quarter-final to look to and now an FA Cup semi-final. But, can they push for a top-four finish?

Well, a win tonight moves them one point behind Chelsea in fourth and the race for Europe will well and truly be on.

  10. Sutton predicts Seagulls winpublished at 18:38 British Summer Time 2 April

Brighton v Aston Villa (19:45 BST)

    Chris Sutton
    BBC Football Expert

What a season Aston Villa are having, with a Champions League quarter-final and FA Cup semi-final to look forward to.

Their recruitment in January has been key - a lot has been made of how well Marcus Rashford and Marco Asensio are playing after joining on loan, and rightly so.

Whether Villa can turn them into permanent signings in the summer might depend on whether they get in next season's Champions League, however.

While this is exactly the scenario they want, finishing in the top five is going to be tough on top of everything else, and it is games like this where everything might catch up with them.

Brighton drew a blank against Nottingham Forest in the FA Cup on Saturday but Villa are a bit more expansive, and I feel like the Seagulls will have plenty of chances here.

    Sutton's prediction: 2-1

  11. Team news - Six changes for Man City from FA Cuppublished at 18:36 British Summer Time 2 April

Man City v Leicester (19:45 BST)

Pep Guardiola makes six changes to the side that beat Bournemouth to reach the FA Cup semi-finals on Sunday.

One is forced with Erling Haaland ruled out for seven weeks with an ankle injury while Bernardo Silva, Mateo Kovacic, Phil Foden, Abdukodir Khusanov and Kevin de Bruyne move to the bench.

Nico O'Reilly's brilliant performance at the weekend earns him a place in the starting XI with Jack Grealish, Jeremy Doku, Omar Marmoush Savinho and Nico Gonzalez also given the nod.

A bit of good news for City fans comes in the form of Oscar Bobb, who is on the bench for the first time since breaking his leg.

Man City XI: Ederson, Nunes, Dias, Gvardiol, O'Reilly, Gonzalez, Gundogan, Grealish, Doku, Marmoush, Savinho

Subs: Ortega, Kovacic, De Bruyne, Silva, Reis, Foden, Bobb, Lewis, McAtee

Leicester have not played since 16 March when they lost 3-0 to Manchester United and they're unchanged from that match.

Leicester City XI: Hermansen, Justin, Faes, Coady, Ndidi, Soumare, Thomas, Kristiansen, Daka, El Khanouss, Vardy

Subs: Stolarczyk, Okoli, Mavididi, De Crodova Reid, Ayew, Pereira, Skipp, Coulibaly, Buonanotte

Newcastle boss Eddie Howe sticks with the same starting XI that brought home the Carabao Cup 17 days ago.

Alexander Isak will reach 20 Premier League goals for the second successive season if he scores.

Newcastle XI: Pope, Trippier, Schar, Burn, Livramento, Guimaraes, Tonali, Joelinton, Murphy, Isak, Barnes.

Subs: Dubravka, Wilson, Krafth, Osula, Willock, Longstaff, Miley, Shahar, Thomas Neave.

    .

Two changes for Brentford from the side that started the 2-1 win at Bournemouth last time out.

Dutch defender Sepp van den Berg returns to the starting XI along with Ukraine midfielder Yehor Yarmolyuk.

Mikkel Damsgaard, who has 10 Premier League assists this season, and Norway defender Kristoffer Ajer drop to the bench.

This is the first Premier League game at the Etihad Stadium since the clocks went forward - and the Manchester weather is doing us proud.

A lovely early evening, with blue skies above.

Despite Manchester City's travails this season, they reached the FA Cup semi-finals on Sunday and surely will consolidate their top five position by beating relegation threatened Leicester.

Wolves win last night means Leicester are now 12 points from safety with nine games to do something about it. They have won four games so far this season.

  16. What games will Erling Haaland miss?published at 18:27 British Summer Time 2 April

Man City v Leicester (19:45 BST)

A five-week absence would see Haaland miss six matches including the FA Cup semi-final against Nottingham Forest on 26 April. That timeframe means he would be looking to return in the Premier League game against Southampton on 10 May.

If he were to miss seven weeks, Haaland would be a doubt for the FA Cup final on 17 May - should City beat Forest.

Haaland would then aim to be fit for the final league game of the season on 25 May at Fulham, before the Club World Cup is played in June and July.

  17. Haaland out for seven weekspublished at 18:25 British Summer Time 2 April

Man City v Leicester (19:45 BST)

Another huge blow for Manchester City this week when it comes to their injury list.

Striker Erling Haaland will be out for up to seven weeks with the ankle injury he suffered in Sunday's FA Cup quarter-final win at Bournemouth.

The Norwegian was substituted in the 61st minute after scoring the equaliser as City went on to beat the Cherries 2-1 and reach the semi-finals.

A video was posted on social media showing the 24-year-old leaving the Vitality Stadium on crutches and with his left ankle in a protective boot.

"They told me the doctors say between five to seven weeks," said boss Pep Guardiola. "So hopefully the end of the season and by the Club World Cup he will be ready.

"Sometimes there are years when these kinds of things happen. It happened all season."

  18. 'Don't think Man City will slip up'published at 18:23 British Summer Time 2 April

Man City v Leicester (19:45 BST)

    Chris Sutton
    BBC Sport football expert

It is exactly the fixture Manchester City would want after their FA Cup win at Bournemouth, when Pep Guardiola was speaking about his players showing heart and soul, and the desire and passion that they need.

The way he was talking shows how much winning the FA Cup means to him, but does it mean they are back on track? I am not sure, and I don't think this game will tell us much either because they should blow Leicester away even if they are nowhere near their best.

Leicester have not scored a league goal since the end of January, and I don't see that changing at Etihad Stadium. They are at the stage where their fans cheer a corner, let alone a shot at goal - that's desperate, and that's where Leicester are at.

From what Pep was saying, he knows how important this game is for their run-in, as Manchester City look to secure Champions League football next season. I don't think there is any chance they will slip up.

    Sutton's prediction: 5-0

  19. Race for Europepublished at 18:21 British Summer Time 2 April

So, it's all up for grabs in the race for Europe.

Just five points separate Chelsea in fourth place and Bournemouth in 10th and Enzo Maresca's side don't play until Thursday, when they take on Tottenham, which could allow Manchester City, Newcastle and Brighton all to leapfrog them in the table.

Both Newcastle and Brighton are locked on 47 points while City sit just ahead on 48 and victories in their respective matches - Newcastle face Brentford, Brighton host Aston Villa and City entertain Leicester - would move them all above Chelsea.

Brighton's match against Villa could prove pivotal to both teams' hopes of European football next season with Unai Emery's side pushing for a second consecutive Champions League campaign.

Bournemouth are without a win in four Premier League matches but victory against relegation-threatened Ipswich Town could see them creep into the top six.

    Tasty.

Here's how things stand in the Premier League before the action gets under way this evening.

Whatever happens, there'll be no movement in the top three. Win or lose Liverpool will remain top while Arsenal and Nottingham Forest both won last night and Chelsea do not play until tomorrow.

The rest of the table, though. Well, it's anyone's guess.
