All this 'certainty' of Man U not going down. I fancy Everton and Ipswich to get the win today. Leaves Utd only 9 from safety. You telling me they're safe?

    Intriguing stat:

David Moyes has won his last two Premier League home games against Manchester United, beating them 1-0 and 2-0 with West Ham in May and December 2023. He also won his last home league game against the Red Devils in charge of Everton, beating them 1-0 in August 2012.

TV are showing some clips of Manchester United training and it's been pointed out that none of the United players seem to be talking to each other.

Should we be reading into this? Or have they just got their game-heads on?

All of this talk of not pushing for anything. Everyone seems to forget the two cup competitions that we are in. Both come with European football should we end up victorious. Never say never. But the season is far from over.

Everton v Man Utd (12:30 GMT)

    Chris Sutton

Everton have moved above Manchester United in the table, and they go into this game as favourites - and rightly so.

The Toffees are without the injured Iliman Ndiaye, which is a big blow for them, but Beto's improvement under David Moyes has been incredible and they definitely carry a goal threat now.

I actually think this game will be quite tight, though. I didn't think United's performance in last weekend's defeat at Tottenham was as bad as a lot of people made out.

They had some very good early chances they should have taken and I have a feeling they will have some opportunities this time too.

This smells of a 1-1 draw to me, which is what I am going with. One of my pals is an Everton fan and every time I haven't backed them to win under Moyes and they got something, he loved it.

He will probably be quite happy that I am not backing them here, either, but it's important for United boss Ruben Amorim that they get something at Goodison Park, and the way his side end this campaign is massive for him too.

United are not getting relegated whatever happens, but Amorim needs a decent result or two to build some credit for next season.

If he overhauls his squad in the summer, he needs to hit the ground running - it will be seen as being more his team and he has to get a tune out of them.

If that doesn't happen, then there is going to be a pile on from people saying there has been no progress since he took over from Erik ten Hag.

    Sutton's prediction: 1-1

United aren’t qualifying for anything and are not going down. No game is ‘must win’, they are simply seeing out the season ahead of a much needed exodus in the summer where they will have a proper rebuilding.

    Puskas-award winning goal, that.

Wasn't that Everton's first game since a points deduction too? All that build-up and then they conceded from a bicycle kick in the first minute. Very Everton if true.

It's a packed pressbox at Goodison Park today for the last visit of Manchester United to this famous old ground.

The previous trip here from the Red Devils saw one of the great Premier League goals scored by Alejandro Garnacho, leaping high into the Merseyside sky before unleashing an unstoppable bicycle kick past Jordan Pickford.

Everton are the form side for this fixture, rejuvenated since the second coming of David Moyes by winning four of their last six games, and come into this game above United in the table.

But the Scot is not getting carried away saying Everton's objective "is still to make sure we are a Premier League club next season".

Victory this lunchtime will open up a 16 point gap to the bottom three and inflict more misery on Moyes' former club - how he would enjoy that.

There is absolutely no way that this tepid Man Utd side will get anything out of today. They'll be simply bullied off the pitch. 100% guaranteed. And after West Ham beat Leicester later in the week, United will be down to 16th, which is where they'll finish. But without any European football next year, the drastic drop in income and the need to sell in the summer, they will be favourites for relegation next year.

Man Utd boss Ruben Amorim, speaking to TNT Sports about Manuel Ugarte starting: "We tried to find a solution to win games.

"Tottenham and Everton are two teams completely different. Here, we know we need to win a lot of duels.

"We know it's going to be a physical game. I want to see a team who can cope with that game and then we have to improve the way we play with the ball.

"Especially, the ability to have the ball under pressure - it's the small and big things.

"When you have time to train you control a bit more of the process."

On beating Everton earlier in the season: "It is completely different.

"I remember the game, it was the second game [Amorim took charge of in the Premier League]. We had a bit of luck in the game.

"We have to be better, compared to that game it's a different team.

"We want to win and we want to play."

Former Manchester United utility player and five-time Premier League champion John O'Shea has just walked past us into the posh seats at Goodison Park.

    Two points.

If David Moyes doesn't think Everton are safe yet, what does he think of Manchester United's chances?

And, when Dominic Calvert-Lewin returns from injury, will Beto keep him out the side?

Everton boss David Moyes, speaking to TNT Sports: "I don't think there's been a huge secret. It is just the players playing with more confidence.

"They've got a bit more confidence - wining gives you that great feeling. We have started to create a few more chances.

"I didn't want to be the manager who took Everton down and that's the pressure as a manager.

"We are not safe yet. But the results we've had have been great."

On Beto: "He wants to work, he wants an opportunity. We all know when they don't get a chance you don't get a chance to see it. Dominic [Calvert-Lewin] got injured and it meant Beto would play games.

"He has come in and made his a mark and grown in confidence.

"The goal he got against Liverpool was brilliant and he scored a couple of goals in the games before it.

"Ultimately, he has been through on goal and he's been clinical with it."

On Abdoulaye Doucoure starting: "Doucs played well against Liverpool and he's done the job. Carlos [Alcaraz] has played well and he's unfortunate not to start."
