Tottenham have been quite unlucky because very little has dropped to them from those huge amount of attempts they've had outside the area.

If Nick Pope was at fault for Tottenham's goal, he has made amends with that stunning save to tip over James Maddison's curler.

Maddison is playing the role of pantomime villain after the home fans thought he made too much of an injury at the end of the first half.

But that might only motivate Maddison even more so it's risky.

Ahh, this would have been lovely.

Brennan Johnson's touch is brilliant to flick the ball over the boot of Dan Burn and create space to shoot in the box.

He then leans back and side-foots it way over the bar. What a chance!

  4. CLOSE!published at 15:08 British Summer Time 1 September

    Chelsea 1-1 Crystal Palace

    Ding! Ding!

It's like a boxing match...one blow followed by another.

After that chance for Levi Colwill, play switches to the other end and Daichi Kamada goes close with a stinging shot which Robert Sanchez does well to beat away.

  5. Postpublished at 15:07 British Summer Time 1 September

    Newcastle 1-1 Tottenham

This could now be Tottenham's 11th corner. The stats can't keep up with the speed in which they are winning them.

  6. GREAT SAVE!published at 15:06 British Summer Time 1 September

    Newcastle 1-1 Tottenham

Nick Pope is doing everything to keep Newcastle in this. James Maddison's curling effort from the edge of the box is pushed wide and out for ANOTHER corner.

Maybe we'll see a little bit more from Newcastle now. They're not being utterly dominated. They've weathered some of the storm.

  10. CLOSE!published at 15:04 British Summer Time 1 September

    Newcastle 1-1 Tottenham

Another good break down the right by Brennan Johnson. He races away, slides it across the box and Bruno Guimarães' clearance trickles just wide of his own goal.

  11. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 15:03 British Summer Time 1 September

Mykhailo Mudryk is on for the injured Malo Gusto. It looks like Moises Caicedo is going to fill in at left-back.

    Sandro Tonali reactsImage source, Reuters

Interesting to see which Tonali we see. I was here for his debut for Newcastle and he was spellbinding. He was phenomenal.

He faded and he was much quieter in games. It turns out he had things on his mind.

Dan Burn makes a good block as Wilson Odobert shoots from the edge of the box.

From the corner, Radu Dragusin heads wide.

    Chelsea 1-1 Crystal Palace

This is a blow for Chelsea.

Malo Gusto is down again and this time it looks like his shift is over.

There was no one around him when he went down. It looks like a hamstring injury.

    Newcastle 1-1 Tottenham

    Michael Emons
BBC Sport at St James' Park

The introduction of Brennan Johnson on the right wing for Tottenham at half time has changed the story of this match.

Spurs have been on top most of this half so far. The Newcastle fans are doing their best to lift their team. At the moment the hosts need the help.

Finely balanced. Jacob Murphy nearly restores Newcastle's lead, only to be denied at his near post by Guglielmo Vicario.

Now a standing ovation for Sandro Tonali from Newcastle fans on all sides of the ground. Ten months out banned, it'd be some story if he gets the winner.

I would say Newcastle's midfield is a big question. Tonali is like a new player in many ways but he needs to get up to speed here.

Huge cheers as Sandro Tonali comes on for his first Premier League appearance in over 10 months. He played mid-week in their second round Carabao Cup match. He replaces Sean Longstaff.

Lewis Hall is also on for Lloyd Kelly. Both players leaving the pitch were on bookings.

Correct me if I'm wrong but Pedro Porro has had more shots on goal than Son who's been quiet so far because he's playing so wide. Newcastle imo should have kept Harvey Barnes on the pitch.
