    A classic 'it's been coming.'

James Maddison cuts in off the left and curls it towards the bottom corner.

Nick Pope dives to push it away to his left but that's straight to Brennan Johnson.

He pulls it back across the goalline, Pope can't get to it and Dan Burn ends up blasting it into the roof of his own net as he tries to clear it.

Brennan Johnson picks out Wilson Odobert at the back post and he somehow pokes it miles wide with his knee. Any normal contact and that surely would have gone in. Ange Postecoglu can't believe it!

Outstanding - no other word for it!

Chelsea will be kicking themselves. They have had numerous chances to increase their lead but Palace are back on level terms thanks to a moment of pure qualify by Eberechi Eze.

He produces a glorious curling finish from about 20 yards and beats Robert Sanchez for power and pace.

If a manager has to sub a player on 50mins for risk of a second yellow, you know the ref has had a shocker.

Enzo Maresca is right to be furious as Will Hughes avoids a second yellow card and dismissal for a foul on Cole Palmer.

Palmer was winding up a shot on the edge of the box after turning the midfielder and was brought down.

Not only is Hughes already booked, but he has accumulated several fouls away at Stamford Bridge already.

A sign Oliver Glasner agrees with his counterpart is Hughes is immediately withdrawn on the 50th minute for Chieck Doucoure.

    Newcastle 1-0 Tottenham

Former Everton winger on BBC Radio 5 Live

What a start to the second half. Classic Ange Postecoglou with a bunch of system changes. He's saying to the team to go and attack. They've almost been caught twice. This looks like it'll be a great second half.

  13. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 14:40 British Summer Time 1 September

    Chelsea 1-0 Crystal Palace

    Good spot, Curtis!

Will Hughes, who has been dicing with danger, is indeed replaced by Cheick Doucoure.

  14. Postpublished at 14:40 British Summer Time 1 September

    Newcastle 1-0 Tottenham

Nothing comes of the VAR check. An excellent tackle by Radu Dragusin.

  15. Postpublished at 14:39 British Summer Time 1 September

    Newcastle 1-0 Tottenham

Alexander Isak is onside this time and he's got in behind! He's got support with him but goes alone and Radu Dragusin has to make a crucial sliding challenge. It will be checked by VAR.

Play continues in the meantime though and Tottenham go straight up the other end. There's a dangerous cross from the right but again Tino Livramento is there to mop up.

  16. 'Doucoure is getting his shirt on'published at 14:39 British Summer Time 1 September

I am looking at the bench and I think Cheick Doucoure is getting his shirt on [for Will Hughes].

A good free-kick from Palmer, he whips it over the wall but its not far enough into the corner.

A save we expect Henderson to make.

  17. CLOSE!published at 14:39 British Summer Time 1 September

    Chelsea 1-0 Crystal Palace

Chelsea are knocking on the door!

After Cole Palmer forces a save from Dean Henderson from the free-kick, Levi Colwill forces another stop from the keeper with a header at the back post.

  18. Postpublished at 14:38 British Summer Time 1 September

    Newcastle 1-0 Tottenham

Great play by Tino Livramento. The Newcastle defender reads a through ball into his own area.

He gets there first, takes it past a few Spurs' attackers and slides it down the line for Alexander Isak but he's offside.

  19. KICK-OFFpublished at 14:37 British Summer Time 1 September

  20. 'Chelsea will be content'published at 14:37 British Summer Time 1 September

    Chelsea 1-0 Crystal Palace

    Curtis Davies
Former Premier League defender on BBC Radio 5 Live Online

Chelsea will be content. They are well on top, Palace have not had too much to worry them.

I am surprised to see Will Hughes on the pitch, he had a knock before half-time and he's got a booking.
