    Liverpool

For Virgil van Dijk, it doesn't matter when Liverpool are confirmed champions of England, just as long as it happens.

The Reds squad will be together tonight to watch Arsenal v Crystal Palace but they know they may have to get the job done at Anfield on Sunday.

“It doesn’t matter [when]. I want to be champions of England. I want to let this dream become true.

“I would love to lift the cup for this club that I love so much, if it doesn’t happen on Wednesday, then we have an opportunity on Sunday to do it in front of our own fans, in front of a red Anfield and it will be special, that’s for sure.”

Will there be a repeat of these scenes tonight for the Liverpool squad?

In 2020, a Chelsea win against Man City at Stamford Bridge secured Liverpool's first Premier League title since 1990.

A win for Crystal Palace at Arsenal will secure the Reds' 20th.

Tonight's game could be either super cagey, or an exciting match, as both Arsenal and Palace will have one eye on their respective semi finals. As a Palace fan, to be in the position we are now would have been fine for me at the start of the season, but it's frustrating to think how it could have been so much more if it weren't for our wretched start. Our latter season form might have nudged us towards the European places, but after shipping five goals to both City and Newcastle, we need to regroup and get some kind of positive result to set us up for Villa at Wembley.

Arsenal v Crystal Palace (Wed, 20:00 BST)

    • Crystal Palace's only win away to Arsenal in the past 31 years was a 3-2 victory on 21 April 2019.
    • The Gunners have won each of the previous six meetings in all competitions, scoring a total of 20 goals. That sequence includes a 3-2 home victory in the EFL Cup on 18 December.
    • The Gunners have avoided defeat in 11 consecutive league and cup matches (W6, D5).
    • They have lost three of their past 36 Premier League home matches (W26, D7), with their only home league loss of the current campaign February's 1-0 defeat by West Ham.
    • Having won 2-0 at both West Ham and Fulham earlier this year, Palace are vying to win three consecutive Premier League away games against London rivals for the first time since 1997.

Re: Dave 2:36pm / getting 3 points from Bournemouth Newcastle and Liverpool isn’t easy though if arsenal are prioritising their CL games against PSG. I think the point is not that arsenal will fall outside top 5 - it’s that’s Arsenal could easily fall out top 5 if they choose to focus on CL and play rested/rotated team for remaining prem games - top 5 is definitely not guaranteed for arsenal yet (especially if they lose tonight, which I suspect they might as they’ll rest key players for PSG next week)

  7. Liverpool plan Arsenal watch partypublished at 14:47 British Summer Time 23 April

    Liverpool

Virgil van Dijk revealed after Liverpool's win over Leicester that the squad would get together to watch Arsenal's match with Crystal Palace.

It's unlikely, but a Palace win at the Emirates would secure the Premier League title for the Reds.

“I expect Arsenal to win at home but, yeah, if it doesn’t happen then I think it would be nice to be together.

“So however that may look, we will discuss in the next couple of days. But if Arsenal just win that game, as they probably expect they will do against a very good Crystal Palace, then we have to do our job at the weekend.”

Re anon (14:25) whilst Arsenal might take their eye off the prem with the CL coming up, I can't see 4 teams overtaking them with 5 games to go and 9 point swings needed by Chelsea or Villa as part of that

Mikel Arteta said it's "nothing too serious" for Bukayo Saka after he was on the receiving end of a poor Leif Davis challenge on Sunday against Ipswich.

Both Jorginho and Riccardo Calafiori are unavailable. He said he is unsure if Jorginho will play again this season after picking up an injury.

Seriously Anon (14:25) is that a wind up? Arsenal need 6 points from 5 games to get top 5. With Southampton to come then that’s 3 points from the other 4, assuming Chelsea win all their games.

Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner will be without full-back Ben Chilwell due to "sickness" but said all others - barring long-term absentees Cheick Doucoure and Chadi Riad - are fit.

Glasner admitted that he would probably rest "maybe two or three", but not because of Saturday's looming FA Cup semi-final against Aston Villa.

"We are in a good situation that the players are fit, but we want them to stay fit, and therefore of course we’re always monitoring their minutes.

“I mention it quite often: having a three-game week is not a big problem, but now it’s the second three-game week, and they’re very intense games, so then we have to look at what’s best, and which players are in the best shape.

“It doesn’t mean that we make 10 changes tomorrow, but maybe two or three. It’s not because we value the Saturday game more than tomorrow’s game – it’s just we need to be physically top fit and mentally top fit to be competitive against Arsenal.”

Am I crazy in thinking that Arsenal will find it difficult getting top 4? Their fixtures are difficult (except Southampton) and their main focus will be in the champions League. If they're not careful they could definitely slip out of the top 5.

Oliver Glasner was at pains to stress in his pre-match news conference on Tuesday that his Crystal Palace players would not be taking it easy against Arsenal, despite the match coming three days before their FA Cup semi-final against Aston Villa at Wembley.

The Palace boss wants his players to instead focus on breaking the club's record points tally for a Premier League season.

Their previous best is 49 points - set in 1992-93, 2018-19 and 2023-24. They are currently 12th in the table, on 44 points from 33 games.

"We have to give the answer tomorrow, because it's quite easy to talk about it," said Glasner, when asked if his players would be giving their best against Arsenal.

"For me, you can't say tomorrow [Wednesday] is not important...we still can play the best Premier League season in the history of Crystal Palace, needing six points in five games. The first chance to get these points is over the next week."

Dujon Sterling is a defender who has made 34 appearances for Rangers this season. He's been out with an Achilles injury since April.

The 25-year-old moved north of the border from Chelsea in 2023.

His absence has coincided with Rangers' poor run of form.

If Forest get European football then depth is important. I'd have Dujon Sterling as a target, plays multiple positions and English (for UEFA squad rules). In terms of starters, striker, winger and defensive midfield.
