Re Forest, we need to hang on to Gibbs-White among others, and invest in a really good striker as Wood won’t last forever Preferably it would be a younger guy with potential but would be happy with Ollie Watkins..!

Everyone says Newcastle need a right winger, right CB and striker but what would really move the dial is a statement signing central midfielder so that we can rest one of Bruno, Tonali and Big Joe more. Barella please!

Not sure why Martin’s post is getting so heavily downvoted. Is by far the sharpest bit of business I’ve seen offered thus far.

Despite tying down Salah and VVD, they will regress as they get older. Bradley is a competent replacement for TAA, but he doesn't produce what Alexander-Arnold does offensively. If Arsenal sign the striker (more likely to be Gyokeres than Isak) and a winger like Nico Williams, and if injuries are kept to a minimum, Arsenal will win the title next season.

Gav?! You of all people who always follows the lives and contributes every day...

However, I do have some news for you all...

About a month ago I got a haircut. Short back and sides. I've just not go around to updating my picture yet.

Kinda don't want to lose the Wimbledon Centre Court background. Was a proud moment.

I know I have posted this before but I think it merits another go; I personally think that Joe Rindl needs a haircut.

My team Liverpool still needs a post-Klopp refresh. It is clear from the last few weeks that the early season energy has dropped off, and the players you'd rely on to get through games with individual quality are lacking in some areas. Nunez needs to go, we need a new left-back, find someone to be the long term successor for Van Dijk, possibly add another top midfielder and plan for Salah's replacement too. So not a lot then.

Love it when we properly get stuck into a topic on these lives. Thanks Matt, Martin and Steve.

Also, just giving you a fair warning, we will be switching focus to Arsenal vs Crystal Palace build-up after 14:00 BST.

Short term there is nothing much the top clubs can do. The days when they would buy elite players from lesser teams is over (Liverpool model in 1980s). There is too much money in the premier league. No one needs to sell. Top clubs cannot buy elite players from overseas anymore on the cheap. Every teams scouting is excellent (e.g. Brighton and Brentford). The way forward I think is bringing players through from youth. That's how Barcelona stay competitive without any money. Premier league has created NBA of football. If everyone follows the financial rules its a level playing field. Apologies for all the clichés.

On a serious note, I think almost all the big 8 (big 5 plus Spurs, Newcastle, Villa) can easily be improved by raiding inter Milan. I don’t understand how Barella or Lautaro Martinez never get rumoured to be bought when they’re arguably the best 8 and 9 in Europe and have been for years. Along with Bastoni at centre back and Inzaghi as manager, any 2 out of the 4 would immediately turn any of those big 8 into top 4 guaranteed and title challengers

The first thing Newcastle need is the Champions League place, which will be a tall order. If we get that, we need to bring in multiple players all over the park to boost a very thin squad. We still don’t have enough quality cover for key positions, especially right wing and striker. I’d like to see us taking a punt on some unknown players. We need numbers, not just quality, and we can’t always afford premier league pedigree..

  14. Can Forest maintain tremendous form?published at 13:21 British Summer Time 23 April

    Nottingham Forest

Nottingham Forest have had quite the turnaround. From 17th in the Premier League to currently occupying fourth - Nuno Espirito Santo has done a stunning job.

In football, things move fast and everyone looks towards next season even before the current one is over.

European football would put huge strain on the Forest squad, meaning signings will have to be made. Even then, can they maintain this tremendous form next season?

So, are Arsenal cursed? And what was Matt saying about a Tottenham shirt being buried under the Emirates?

Sounds similar to the seven black cats buried under Racing Club's pitch. You all know that story, right?

I genuinely believe that it doesn’t matter what Arsenal do, they aren’t winning the league next season. If City & Liverpool both show up, they’re finishing third. If both City & Liverpool have bad seasons, somehow Arsenal will still finish second.

A theory I also sort of believe in.

Brentford don't need to sell Bryan Mbeumo. West Ham have no reason to offload Jarrod Bowen.

There are no selling clubs in the Premier League anymore so clubs like Manchester United can no longer get ahead by pinching mid-table's top players.

I'm a LFC supporter, and while it would be hilarious, I don't think Utd will be relegated. Here's a theory. There are more top clubs this season than in previous. There hasn't been a drop off in quality of the league. The money means it's become easier for the so-called smaller clubs to become more competitive. It also makes it harder for promoted clubs to survive - just look at the gulf in class between the bottom 3 and everybody else. The Premier League clubs are mostly making profits and don't have to sell anymore, so they can demand astronomical fees for their players, making it harder for the big clubs to sign the top players without allowing weaknesses elsewhere. Look at how well some of the smaller clubs have done, how many of their players are in demand, and the price tags they're putting on those players. The question should really be: what does each club need to get ahead of the rest?

Constructive you say? Ok Arsenal, what we need is a proven finisher, two replacement midfielders for Partey and Jorgi, a wide player with genuine transition pace and for someone to dig up that Spurs shirt buried under the Emirates that is casting a curse on our players hamstrings and knees.
