The biggest thing that stands out for Brentford is that it has been a very naive performance. You are coming away from home, you are fragile in terms of losing players and filling that gap. You are at a venue that was difficult to come to for even the best teams last season and they have been far too open.

I hate criticising because you want to give a new manager time and if they want to play a new way then you need to let them do that, but the goals they have conceded upon reflection they have been naive.

  3. Acheampong’s auditionpublished at 15:04 British Summer Time 17 August

    Chelsea 0-0 Crystal Palace

    Tom McCoy
    BBC Sport journalist

Chelsea defender Josh Acheampong is making just his third Premier League start today and has had a solid first half. The academy graduate has completed 47 passes, more than any other player.

Enzo Maresca spoke this week about just how important the injured Levi Colwill is, because he is usually the central player when Chelsea use a back three in their build-up play.

The Blues boss is keen to sign another ball-playing defender as a replacement for Colwill but Acheampong could be a homegrown alternative.

I've got Liam Delap in mine so hope he comes on (Michael).

I ended up choosing Pedro over Wood in my FPL, haven't heard or seen Pedro mentioned once!

  6. Postpublished at 15:00 British Summer Time 17 August

    HT: Nottingham Forest 3-0 Brentford

Feel like we might Jordan Henderson off the bench for Brentford sooner rather than later to steady the ship.

    HT: Chelsea 0-0 Crystal Palace

    Steve Sidwell
Former Chelsea midfielder on BBC Radio 5 Live at Stamford Bridge

Chelsea lacked that real quality in the final third. They have not manufactured a real chance, but it has been a fantastic end to end first half.

    On the free-kick being disallowed...

Rules are rules. It deserves to be 0-0.

Always seemed an odd decision from Brentford to appoint Andrews. Early days still of course, but they're sinking without trace.

    Steve, York

Let's hope for Brentford's sake that the 3 promoted teams are as bad as last season. If not, they're toast.

  9. 'First half will weaken Nuno's argument for signings'published at 14:56 British Summer Time 17 August

    HT: Nottingham Forest 3-0 Brentford

    Rachel Corsie
Former Scotland and Aston Villa captain on BBC Radio 5 Sports Extra

Nuno will feel that this first half has weakened his argument if he wants to go into the boardroom and ask for more signings.

If was an incredible start from Forest, the first 15 minutes was electric and they could have been 3-0 up in that period. They were really at it.

  10. Postpublished at 14:54 British Summer Time 17 August

My colleague Emma tells me Brentford have never been in the Premier League's bottom three and that currently remains the case because of alphabetical order.

  12. HALF-TIMEpublished at 14:52 British Summer Time 17 August

    Chelsea 0-0 Crystal Palace

Marc Cucurella had a header cleared off the line for Chelsea and Palace thought they had taken the lead when Eberechi Eze blasted a free-kick into the net.

But it was ruled out as Marc Guehi was penalised for being too close to the Chelsea wall when it was taken - as he had barged Moises Caicedo out of the way to create the space in which Eze shot through.

  13. 'Close for Palace'published at 14:50 British Summer Time 17 August

    Chelsea 0-0 Crystal Palace

    Steve Sidwell
Former Chelsea midfielder on BBC Radio 5 Live at Stamford Bridge

Again, so close for Crystal Palace. The ball wide to Tyrick Mitchell and he put the ball in first time.

If it was a yard in front then Eberechi Eze was there to tap it in.

Chelsea just can’t get Palmer and Pedro into the game. Neto and Gittens aren’t offering much, and Palace look dangerous on the counter.

Huge cheers around the City Ground as the half-time whistle goes.

Plenty for Keith Andrews to ponder at the break.

  16. Postpublished at 14:50 British Summer Time 17 August

    Chelsea 0-0 Crystal Palace

Chelsea goalkeeper Robert Sanchez has to dash to the side of his penalty area and mop up the danger to stop Eberechi Eze reaching a long ball forwards.

Shortly afterwards, Crystal Palace get the ball in the box, but Daniel Munoz scrapes a shot wide of the post.

  17. Postpublished at 14:49 British Summer Time 17 August

    Nottingham Forest 3-0 Brentford

This half couldn't really be going much worse for Brentford.

  18. 'Wood ends up having eight or nine yards of space'published at 14:49 British Summer Time 17 August

    Nottingham Forest 3-0 Brentford

    Rachel Corsie
Former Scotland and Aston Villa captain on BBC Radio 5 Sports Extra

It looks like Wood has to be offside because he ends up having eight or nine yards of space in behind. He just anticipates the turnover in midfield and gets on his bike. He then rounds Kelleher and taps it it.

  19. goal

    Terrible defending from Brentford.

Keith Andrews looks deep in through and it's wonder as Sepp Van Den Berg gives the ball away and Elliot Anderson plays a great pass into the path of Chris Wood.

He goes round Caoimhin Kelleher and slots home.
