I get Palace feeling aggrieved but I like the rule. It stops people playing the man instead of the ball. How many free kicks have been scored because someone just 2 arm shoved someone out the way with no repercussions? Makes absolute sense.

  3. 'James needs to be careful'published at 14:44 British Summer Time 17 August

    Chelsea 0-0 Crystal Palace

    Steve Sidwell
Former Chelsea midfielder on BBC Radio 5 Live at Stamford Bridge

In terms of Reece James and Eberechi Eze combination. If I'm a Palace player I want to get Eze on the ball even more. James needs to be very careful. It is going to be a tough afternoon for him.

  4. 'Dream start for Ndoye'published at 14:44 British Summer Time 17 August

    Nottingham Forest 2-0 Brentford

It is the absolute dream start for Ndoye. It's a brilliant ball from Gibbs-White, he faints to play backwards, little dummy and clipped ball. It's a wonderful finish from Ndoye, he has to throw himself at it but he guides the header into the top corner. Kelleher no chance.

  5. Postpublished at 14:43 British Summer Time 17 August

    Nottingham Forest 2-0 Brentford

Morgan Gibbs-White is showing exactly why Forest needed to keep him this summer.

He's been exceptional in this first half.

    That is so, so good.

Morgan Gibbs-White at the heart of it again as he twists and turns before listing a lovely ball into the box for Dan Ndoye to guide home with his head on his Premier League debut.

Forest look a tough away day this season. Powerful, quick, tall and skilful

  8. 'Brentford have settled'published at 14:41 British Summer Time 17 August

Brentford have settled after the edgy spell in the first 15 minutes. When you are under a lot of pressure you never really have a moment where you can relax. They have had their moments, they've had more touches of the ball and opportunities to go forward, it's much better.

  9. CLOSE!published at 14:40 British Summer Time 17 August

    Nottingham Forest 1-0 Brentford

Rico Henry does great to get to the byline on the left wing and cut one back for Igor Thiago. The striker thinks he's about to score his first Premier League goal but it's a stunning block to keep Forest in front.

  10. Postpublished at 14:40 British Summer Time 17 August

    Chelsea 0-0 Crystal Palace

Reece James is already on a booking and fouls Eberechi Eze close to the left touchline but referee Darren England correctly says it is not worth a second yellow. The free-kick then drifts past all the Palace players and behind for a goal kick.

  11. Postpublished at 14:39 British Summer Time 17 August

    Nottingham Forest 1-0 Brentford

Morgan Gibbs-White and Elliot Anderson have been brilliant in this first half. Brentford are really struggling to deal with the two of them as they link up once again but the ball into Dan Ndoye is just snuffed out.

Not a fan of either team but Forest should have a penalty there. Given up trying to understand the handball rules - the hand moves towards the ball and he had about 5 working days to see the ball coming at him.

I’m not sure the replacements Brentford have brought in are anywhere near good enough to replicate Wissa, Mbeumo & Norgaard. I had them down to struggle this season but it may be worse than I thought

  15. 'Bright start for Acheampong'published at 14:36 British Summer Time 17 August

    Chelsea 0-0 Crystal Palace

    Steve Sidwell
Former Chelsea midfielder on BBC Radio 5 Live at Stamford Bridge

This is the chance Josh Acheampong needs. He's getting a real chance to stake a claim in this team. I have been impressed with his leadership qualities. A really bright start for him.

A stoppage in play now as Igor Thiago and Nikola Milenkovic clash heads when competing for a header.

Looks as though both will be OK to carry on.

  17. 'Definitely hits his arm'published at 14:35 British Summer Time 17 August

    Nottingham Forest 1-0 Brentford

    Rachel Corsie
Former Scotland and Aston Villa captain on BBC Radio 5 Sports Extra

I'm very surprised. Milambo gets it all wrong. He was definitely trying to kick the ball and instead it definitely hits his arm.

The new process of explaining VAR decisions will surely be a game changer. Has certainly justified the decision to disallow Eze’s goal now. Wouldn’t have been aware of such a technicality last season.

An embarrassing moment for Marc Cucurella as he takes the throw-in, only to chuck the ball straight out of play for a goal kick.

  20. Postpublished at 14:35 British Summer Time 17 August

Forest's fifth corner of the game is a complete waste and Brentford can now get themselves up the pitch.
