Summary

  1. Postpublished at 13:44 British Summer Time 5 October

    Portsmouth 0-0 Oxford

Portsmouth's Christian Saydee gets in down the left-hand side after a lovely pass from Josh Murphy but Peter Kioso comes across well to block the cross and it goes out for a corner.

The in-swinger comes in... and it's over the top of everyone.

  2. YELLOW CARDpublished at 13:44 British Summer Time 5 October

    Burnley 0-0 Preston

Aston Villa loanee Kaine Kesler-Hayden is certainly unaffected and shows some great defensive instincts to keep his body between Luca Koleosho and the ball and eventually win a free-kick down the Preston right.

Play resumes and Ben Whiteman mistimes a challenge on Hannibal Mejbri, earning the Preston man a yellow card from Gavin Ward.

  3. Postpublished at 13:42 British Summer Time 5 October

    Burnley 0-0 Preston

Coming together between Max Esteve and Preston's Kaine Kesler-Hayden... the Preston man's momentum carried him into the Burnley defender after he had hooked a bouncing ball away.

No free-kick, just checking the Lilywhites man was ok after taking a blow.

    He is and we continue...

  4. Postpublished at 13:40 British Summer Time 5 October

    Norwich 2-0 Hull City

Norwich goalkeeper George Long is straight into the action after coming on at the break.

Mohamed Belloumi's corner nearly goes all the way in but Long manages to scoop it away.

Regan Slater then drills an effort just past the near post from outside the area.

    Hull still in this.

  5. Postpublished at 13:39 British Summer Time 5 October

    Burnley 0-0 Preston

More of the same from the Lilywhites since the turnaround as they keep getting the ball into the Burnley box from out wide, forcing an early corner, though it comes to nothing.

  6. Postpublished at 13:39 British Summer Time 5 October

    Portsmouth 0-0 Oxford

Similarly to the first half, Portsmouth have started the stronger of the two sides in this second period.

They win an early corner but it doesn't come to anything.

The Pompey fans are starting to rally behind their team with chants of "blue army".

  7. Norwich keeper Gunn replacedpublished at 13:36 British Summer Time 5 October

    Norwich 2-0 Hull City

A change apiece at the break.

Norwich goalkeeper Angus Gunn has gone off, presumably with a knock, and George Long is on for his first league appearance of the season.

Charlie Hughes, signed from Wigan in August, is on for his much-awaited debut for Sean McLoughlin.

  8. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 13:35 British Summer Time 5 October

    Burnley 0-0 Preston

Scott Parker has shuffled his defensive pack at the break, bringing Connor Roberts on at the interval in the place of right-back Bashir Humphreys, while Jaidon Anthony and Luca Koleosho have switched flanks too.

  9. Postpublished at 13:34 British Summer Time 5 October

    Portsmouth 0-0 Oxford

Portsmouth are yet to win a game in the Championship this season and Oxford are still awaiting their first away victory…

Neither of those stats are changing as things stand. Can someone make the difference?

Greg Leigh is on to replace Ben Nelson for Oxford who was struggling with a niggle at the end of the first half.

  10. KICK-OFFpublished at 13:34 British Summer Time 5 October

    #bbcefl

The orange segments have been demolished and no doubt some teacups taken a battering too.

That has been a big 15 minutes for at least five of the six managers in lunchtime action, though Johannes Hoff Thorup might have had his feet up.

Now it's time for less conversation, more action... will the words have made any difference? Let's find out.

Four goals for the season for Norwich striker Josh Sargent now.

All of them have come at Carrow Road.

    Talk about home comforts.

  13. Postpublished at 13:21 British Summer Time 5 October

    HT: Portsmouth 0-0 Oxford United

    Dan George
    BBC Sport at Fratton Park

A decent half by both sides but the frustrations from Portsmouth will be the fact that they're not in the lead.

Oxford have themselves had some decent opportunities, Idris El Mizouni with the most notable, his low curled shot was well saved by Nicolas Schmid.

Here's hoping we have some goals in the second half!

  14. HALF-TIMEpublished at 13:20 British Summer Time 5 October

    Burnley 0-0 Preston

Burnley v Preston match actionImage source, Rex Features

All-square, but Preston will wonder quite how...

Emil Riis saw an early goal from a clever free-kick wrongly chalked-off for offside while Ali McCann has spurned a couple of good opportunities for the visitors, Robbie Brady was denied a dream goal on his return to Turf Moor by James Trafford and Kaine Kesler-Hayden hit the bar seconds before the interval.

The second half should be a must-watch!

  15. Postpublished at 13:20 British Summer Time 5 October

    Burnley 0-0 Preston

    Steve Thompson
BBC Radio Lancashire summariser & former Blackpool assistant manager

Preston have had much better chances, they'll be disappointed they've not got a goal.

Burnley have had more possession but have not had much cutting edge.

  16. HALF-TIMEpublished at 13:20 British Summer Time 5 October

    Norwich 2-0 Hull City

    Marcelino NunezImage source, Getty Images

So far, so very good for the on-song Canaries.

After an open start, the home side took an early lead when Marcelino Nunez fired a super strike into the top corner from 20 yards out.

Before the Tigers could regain their composure they were 2-0 down when Josh Sargent tapped in from close range from Borja Sainz's low ball.

It looked like Norwich, unbeaten at home since November, could add to their lead at any point for a few minutes after that but Hull improved before the break and Chris Bedia headed wide when he ought to have scored.

Johannes Hoff Thorup's men up to seventh as it stands.

  17. HITS THE WOODWORKpublished at 13:20 British Summer Time 5 October

    Burnley 0-0 Preston

    Preston keep coming.

Mads Frokjaer curls the ball to the far post where Kaine Kesler-Hayden jumps high and cushions the ball back into the middle, only to see it come back off the face off the crossbar.

That would have been a perfect time to score, deep into added time.

  18. HALF-TIMEpublished at 13:19 British Summer Time 5 October

    Portsmouth 0-0 Oxford

Elias Sorensen misses a penalty against OxfordImage source, Rex Features

Somehow it's still level at the break...

Portsmouth will be kicking themselves after Elias Sorensen saw his early penalty saved by Jamie Cumming.

But Oxford could have also been ahead having created the better chances since riding out a 10-minute storm by Pompey in the opening stages.

Mark Harris hit an effort wide from close range after kicking the ball against his other foot, while Nicolas Schmid made a great save to deny Idris El Mizouni. Ruben Rodrigues also had a couple of sightings of the Portsmouth goal.

A huge second-half lies ahead in what John Mousinho described beforehand as a must-win game for the hosts.

  19. Postpublished at 13:18 British Summer Time 5 October

    Portsmouth 0-0 Oxford

Portsmouth end the half with their sixth corner of the game...

It drops to Regan Poole but he can't generate any power on his effort and Jamie Cumming saves comfortably.

  20. Postpublished at 13:18 British Summer Time 5 October

    Burnley 0-0 Preston

Fine punch from Preston keeper Freddie Woodman after Jaidon Anthony wins a Burnley corner but Josh Cullen's ambitious attempt to strike the bouncing ball first time from the edge of the box goes all wrong and he slashes high, wide and not very handsome.
