Cornish Pirates full-back Kyle Moyle is "extremely frustrated" with an ongoing arm injury that has kept him out for much of the season.

The 31-year-old returned to the Mennaye in the summer after almost three years with Premiership side Gloucester.

He broke his arm in October, having played in all four of the Pirates' Premiership Rugby Cup matches.

He faced Doncaster in December and Cambridge in January, but complications with his arm have kept him out since.

"It's a really strange one, he's extremely frustrated," joint-head coach Alan Paver told BBC Radio Cornwall.

"He broke his arm and we thought it was just going to be a straightforward recovery, six weeks or so.

"What's transpired is it's ended up manifesting itself into something quite strange.

"No-one's really 100% sure on how we manage this going forward and the surgeons, the doctors and our physios, who are all extremely experienced, are still trying to work through this.

"They've got a handle on it at the moment, but we need to get him back on the pitch as early as possible, and we're hopeful that over the next couple of weeks we'll see him on the pitch."

Moyle is one of Pirates' most experienced players, having scored almost 50 tries in 136 appearances before leaving for Gloucester in November 2020.

He went on to play 46 times for the Cherry and Whites in all competitions before returning home.

"He's such a massive part in what we're doing, every time we've put him on the training field and on the pitch he really ups the levels of how we operate," Paver added.

"He's still extremely talented, he's got lots left in the tank and it's frustrating for him. It's almost unbelievable that he's been out for this amount of time.

"Yes he's getting frustrated, but just his presence in and around the squad makes him very valuable. But ideally we really need him on the pitch."
