    Man Utd 0-0 Crystal Palace

Harry Magure can have no complaints as he picks up a yellow card for a foul on Jean-Philippe Mateta.

The Manchester United defender slid in and never, ever looked like winning the ball there.

It's Antonin Kinsky's turn to have the sun in his eyes. But there's no danger from this particular Brentford cross.

  3. Postpublished at 15:05 Greenwich Mean Time

    Man Utd 0-0 Crystal Palace

Manchester United have not really got going down the right. Amad Diallo's pass goes astray as Noussair Mazraoui tries to back him up and Crystal Palace win the ball back.

Lucas Bergvall wasn't even born when I was at university so that reference mightn't work in 2025...

It's Lucas Bergvall's 19th birthday today. Probably off for some snakebite blacks after the game.

The league table usually does not lie. And the first half of this match has definitely had the feel of 12th v 13th.

Both teams have lost possession 22 times in their own half. Both have lost the ball 23 times in the middle third and after a promising opening things have fizzled out somewhat.

This has 2-1 to Brentford written all over it. Leicester City repeat.

    Mitch, a pessimistic Spurs fan

As a Spurs fan, every time I see Richarlison play, he makes Vincent Janssen and Soldado look like R9. Never a striker in a million years, can't lead a line and never in the right place to take chances, never mind the £60m Levy saw fit to pay for him.

I think from the two sides, Brentford are creating more chances and look more dangerous in the final third.

I don't think they've tested the goalkeeper enough for how much they've been in those positions.

These long throw-ins from Lerma are taking an absolute age. Probably lost five minutes of the first half waiting for them. Should there be a countdown clock before possession is relinquished?

    Blandy

Man Utd definitely do not have the players to play a false nine formation. Amorim is not Superman.

He's certainly no Dave Challinor, Blandy.

  14. Postpublished at 14:53 Greenwich Mean Time

    HT: Brentford 0-1 Tottenham

Brentford recorded 28 touches in the opposition's box in the first half, their fourth-most ever in the opening half of a Premier League match.

It's hard because Kobbie Mainoo's not a centre forward.

Any balls kicked up from Andre Onana, Mainoo has not been able to compete with the back three of Palace.

He is good at dropping into space and bringing other players into the game, but all of that is happening too far from goal.

  16. Scrappy, battling Spurs edge the first halfpublished at 14:51 Greenwich Mean Time

Only a Vitaly Janelt own goal in the 29th minute separates these two London sides.

Spurs have been admirable for their work rate, battling spirit but haven't shown as much quality at Brentford - who have created the better chances - yet not taken them.

A brave headed block from Richarlison after a powerful Bryan Mbeumo shot in first-half added time exemplifies Spurs' spirit today, but Brentford's superiority is highlighted by an expected goals of 1.14 compared to just 0.37 for Tottenham.

However, Ange Postecoglou won't care as his team fights on while deep in an injury crisis.

Manchester United had 10 shots in that first half. None were on target with Kobbie Mainoo's deflected effort that hit the post the closest they came to scoring.

Crystal Palace had one on target. Both teams have not exactly got their shooting boots on today.

  18. 'Both managers will be satisfied'published at 14:49 Greenwich Mean Time

    Leon Osman
Former Everton and England midfielder on BBC Radio 5 Live

Both managers will be satisfied that the game is there for the taking.

Before we get a goal I think we'll be turning to the substitute bench. If the managers keep it the same then it'll be a 0-0.

  19. 'That was going in from Mbuemo'published at 14:49 Greenwich Mean Time

I think that was going in, Bryan Mbuemo has caught that flush.

    It's a wonderful strike.
