    There we are then, cup football is back and has delivered once again.

    Last season Ipswich Town were in the Premier League and Bromley were playing their first EFL campaign well the Ravens have sent the Tractor Boys home with a flat tyre tonight - beating them on penalties.

    Doncaster Rovers, Bradford City, Reading and Plymouth have all turfed-out Championship opposition to earn their places in round two.

    The second round draw for the EFL Cup will take place tomorrow night before the remaining five first round ties (approximately 19:20 BST).

    The draw will also include the 11 Premier League teams not involved in European competitions.

    The EFL Cup will remain regionalised until the third round draw.

    EFL Cup first round:

    Barnsley v Fleetwood Town

    Birmingham City v Sheffield United (20:00 BST)

    Bolton Wanderers v Sheffield Wednesday

    Cheltenham Town v Exeter City

    Huddersfield Town v Leicester City

    Bromley goalkeeper Sam Long saved two penalties in the shootout and told Sky Sports:

    "We're delighted - we believed from the start after watching their clips we could do this.

    "The penalty saves were a bonus - I'm just happy to help out the lads and they put away their penalties well.

    "These are the moments you live for and there's more to come - I can't wait to see who we get in the next round now."

    This is Bromley's first win in the EFL Cup in just their second season in League Two.

    Apart from League Two Bromley beating Championship favourites Ipswich Town just now on penalties, there were a couple of other surprises in round one.

    League One Doncaster thumped Championship side Middlesbrough 4-0 at The Riverside, and fellow third-tier side Bradford won 2-1 at Blackburn.

    League One Plymouth also staged a stunning comeback to beat QPR 3-2 at Home Park, having been 2-0 down at half-time.

    Bromley's first ever EFL Cup win, and it's come against a team who plied their trade in the Premier League last season.

    Ipswich are first up, but George Hirst, who scored a spot-kick in the Championship at Birmingham on Friday night, is denied by Sam Long, diving to his right.

    Stoke 0-0 Walsall (Stoke win 4-3 on penalties)

    A pretty lifeless game in which Walsall, having made 10 changes, hung in there to take us to penalties.

    Jonny Stuttle blazed his penalty over and Albert Adomah had his saved by Jack Bonham while Sam Hornby did save from Divin Mubama but it was Bonham who stepped up to beat his opposite number and win it for the home side.

    Jamie Donley hit the bar for Stoke in normal time while Stuttle came close twice in injiury time.
