    Chelsea 1-0 Brentford

So close to a Brentford equaliser. Fabio Carvalho is six yards out and pokes a shot off the crossbar. It bounces on the line and Kevin Schade sends a bicycle kick over the bar from the rebound.

Southampton have managed to shore things up in this second half, plus I think Tottenham have taken it easy.

Got no sympathy for Southampton and don’t agree Leeds would have done a better job. Poor leadership and transfers, they came down to the Championship with Premier League resources and had a war chest to spend in the summer. All of the leadership at the club messed and only have themselves to blame. They’ll pin it on Martin, he has a share of responsibility but it’s the whole club at fault.

    Chelsea 1-0 Brentford

Brentford's best chance of the game. Captain Christian Norgaard is unmarked in the box 12 yards out but his cushioned volley is tipped over the bar by Robert Sanchez. It was set up by Nathan Collins hooking a cross over his head into the mixer.

Brentford's Yoane Wissa is flagged offside as he runs onto a ball over the top and he pokes his shot straight at Robert Sanchez anyway.

Russell Martin is everything that’s wrong with modern coaches. Imposing a style of play that doesn’t suit the team with no compromises or ideas on how to adapt to different situations or opponents. Lazy.

Jackson despite having scored more this season still needs to be more consistent and those tap ins to go in to be considered a serious world class striker. Just has that uncertainty more often than not.

Got to feel for Southampton fans but can anyone realistically see them avoiding the drop now no (matter who is in the dugout), the smart move would be to stick with Russell Martin, then look to focus on building a strong squad in the championship ready for the premier league to give them a better chance at competing.

Ollie, Witney: Leeds fan here, although I may be biased I agree with Nige at 20:06. Feel like we would have done a better job in the transfer window and competed better. Sometimes you need to take some risks to stretch that budget, obviously hasn’t worked for Southampton, certainly didn’t work for us in our relegation season.

Obviously the bar was very low but Southampton have been better in this half. Neither side have had a shot in the 15 minutes since the restart.
