Bristol in Pictures: Carnivals and crocodiles

- Published
Heavy rain and colder temperatures haven't stopped people from enjoying the city's attractions this week.
From the opening of a new store in the city to locals wrapping up warm for colourful carnivals near Bristol, it's been a busy week across the area.
All this and more is included in our weekly image round-up.

Celebration time: Thousands of people flocked to Weston-super-Mare for the annual Guy Fawkes carnival.
A blaze of colour filled the town as a procession of illuminated carts filled the streets for the event which dates back to 1871.

Let there be light: Wookey Hole has joined other attractions in the area in getting ready for the festive season.

Blue Glass: Almost 3,000 people have signed a petition to save a historic glassmaking establishment from closing down.
Bosses at Bristol Blue Glass say the lease at their current site in Brislington runs out in February 2026 and a new site is proving difficult to find.

A new home: Hundreds of shoppers queued to be some of the first people to step inside Cabot Circus' new flagship store.
M&S opened on Thursday in the former House of Fraser site, which has stood empty for more than a year.

Croc and roll: Bristol Zoo Project began testing its new crocodile tank which will one day house a critically endangered species of slender-snouted crocodile, as well as several varieties of rare fresh-water fish.

Standing together: Female and non-binary filmmakers and creatives from across the city were brought together for the first ever Sistaland Festival.
Event organisers said they wanted to create a safe space for women to discuss pay gaps, health issues and confidence.
