Guernsey FC boss Tony Vance says he was left frustrated after the 2-1 loss at Northwood in the Isthmian League.

The Green Lions created numerous chances and should have been two or three goals ahead before going behind early in the second half.

The loss leaves them second-from-bottom of the South Central division, external, a point adrift of from safety.

"We should have had them out of sight. We did enough to win three games, let alone one," Vance told BBC Guernsey.

"After about the second or third chance I turned round and said 'it's not going to be our day today', you could just feel it.

"They were only going to score from a long throw or a corner, and they did, that's where they got their two goals from.

"Apart from that I thought it was a really dominant performance."

The loss meant Guernsey's search for an away win goes on - they have not won on the English mainland since early March and have registered just two wins this season.

But despite that the islanders have performed well in many of their most recent games, having drawn four and lost four of their last nine.

"If you look at the performance levels forgetting the results, which are obviously hugely important, we had a period where whilst we were doing OK we weren't setting the world alight, we were building," added Vance.

"Then over the last six or seven games we've been building real performances.

"I think we've had two really poor games where teams have finished us off and we haven't been good enough.

"But that performance has been coming today, it should have had the result with it but it didn't, and anyone that watches the highlights will see that it's significantly loaded one way.

"So the performance levels are building and if you keep doing that the results will come."
