Jersey Bulls say the late postponement of Saturday's game with Horley Town will cost the club around £8,000.

The team did not get their flight to Jersey on Saturday because of an issue with their baggage while boarding at London Gatwick., external

The Combined Counties League will make a decision on whether the game will be replayed and where any replayed match will take place.

Bulls are third in Combined Counties Premier South with eight games left.

Bulls manager Gary Freeman told BBC Radio Jersey: "As a club there's a lot goes into match day, organising the travel, the hotels and everything else that goes with it.

"So it's a real disappointment for everyone and a shame, and we'll see what happens now.

"We've never had a problem with any other club over the four or five years it's been going so it's really disappointing.

"I'm sure if it was a case of paying additional baggage we'd have done that, because obviously we have lost a few thousand pounds on the flights and hotels and everything else.

"But we've also got to look at another game in the future, which will be another few thousand, which is a big hit on the club, so very disappointing that Horley haven't managed to get over but I'm sure things will develop over the next few days.

"All our Saturdays are booked up so it means a midweek, it's just whether they're forced to come to Jersey or we have to go there."

In a post on X on Saturday, Horley Town said: "Our game today with Jersey Bulls has been abandoned due to an issue with boarding the plane at London Gatwick.

"The game will be referred to the league committee and we'll await the outcome. We can only apologise to our fans who have already made the journey over."
