Andrew Neal's goal set Truro City on their way at St Albans City

Truro City boss Paul Wotton says his side's 2-1 win at St Albans City is "a huge three points" for the club.

Andrew Neal gave the White Tigers the lead after an hour before substitute Adam Porter doubled the lead with his first touch eight minutes later.

Zane Banton's looping effort in the last 10 minutes ensured a tense finale.

But Truro held on for just their second win in 10 games as they moved up to 19th in National League South, three points above the relegation zone.

"It's a huge three points and I'm really happy," Wotton told BBC Radio Cornwall.

"I'm delighted with the performance and the result obviously, and I think it's really important to reiterate that we deserved that.

"Anyone who doesn't know about football will say that St Albans had all the possession, it doesn't matter - James Hamon hasn't had a save to make and I think their goal was fortuitous as well, I don't think he meant it.

"We deserved that on sheer will, work rate, heart, and sometimes I'm not sure that's always been there in certain games for us.

"Not many teams come here and win. I thought we were resolute, we trained hard on Thursday night on our shape and game plan and we executed it."
