Guernsey FC boss Tony Vance says his side 'should have been better' in parts of their game despite their biggest away victory in more than two years.

The Green Lions were 4-0 winners away at bottom side Corinthian-Casuals to move up to 14th place in Isthmian League South Central.

Matt Loaring's 17th-minute goal saw Guernsey lead 1-0 at the break.

Charlton Gauvain got a second soon after the restart as Brandon Wallace and Loaring scored in stoppage time.

Loaring's two goals took his tally to 14 for the season - 11 of which have come in his last 13 appearances.

"We always looked the better team, but there were moments in the game where we should have been better and we could have made the game easier," Vance told BBC Radio Guernsey.

"I think first half I could see we were always going to score against them, they had a style of play that we had to deal with and I thought our two centre-halves were excellent."

Guernsey are now 16 points above the relegation places, having won just one of their first 15 matches.

But they have registered eight victories in their past 14 games to seemingly dispel any relegation fears, including five wins in their past seven matches.

The 4-0 win at Corinthian-Casuals was their biggest victory since an 8-2 win at Staines Town on 8 February 2022.

"It was a question of not being too open and making it basketball because if we could control the game I thought we could get in," Vance added.

"We could have been a bit more comfortable early on, and it took the last five minutes to really put them to bed.

"I was really pleased when we were 2-0, they had a spell where probably in October we would have lost the game, so we really dug in and did the ugly bit of the game well, and Jordy made an unbelievable save at 2-0."
