Truro City hope they will have no postponements on Gloucester City's synthetic pitch

Truro City will play their remaining home fixtures this season 195 miles away at Gloucester City.

The club face 13 games in 28 days after waterlogging at previous 'home' venues at Plymouth Parkway and Taunton Town.

National League North side Gloucester have a synthetic surface, meaning postponements are highly unlikely.

The White Tigers - who will return to a new stadium in Truro in the summer - will play nine more games in Gloucester as they try to avoid relegation.

The club has already played two games at Meadow Park - a 2-0 victory over Taunton Town on 2 March before a 4-1 defeat by Chelmsford City a week later.

A third against Eastbourne Borough was abandoned on Tuesday after a serious knee injury suffered by Eastbourne defender Alex Finney.

"The unprecedented rainfall that has affected the South West over the past weeks has been the catalyst for this decision, to ensure that our home fixture fulfilment needs are met," read a statement from Truro, who are 19th in National League South but have at least five games in hand on most of the teams around them.

"As with every decision that has been made regarding venues for home matches since the turn of the year, it was not one taken lightly, but with the club's best short-term interests in mind.

"We understand the significant impact this will have on our loyal and passionate fanbase.

"But we urge our supporters to understand that this decision enables the team to complete this season with security that games will go ahead on an artificial surface, thus allowing time and energy to be focused on moving back home to Cornwall for 2024-25."

A date for the rearranged game with Eastbourne has has yet to be confirmed.
