Guernsey FC lose 4-1 at home to Leatherhead

Guernsey FC lost a second successive home game heavily as they went down 4-1 to Leatherhead at Footes Lane.

Leatherhead took the lead when Trevan Robinson pounced on a Josh Addison handling error after 24 minutes.

Robinson got a second 11 minutes later before Brandon Wallace's long-range strike made it 2-1 at the break.

Daniel Hector made it 3-1 as he turned in the rebound after Robinson had hit the post after an hour before Omarr Lawson got a 77th-minute fourth.

The loss, which came after a 6-2 defeat by Isthmian League South Central leaders Chertsey Town on Wednesday, keeps Guernsey 16 points clear of the relegation zone.

Having won four of their previous five matches, Guernsey have now lost back-to-back games for the first time since December.

"They were a good side, I can see why they are where they are, but we were competitive," Guernsey boss Tony Vance told BBC Radio Guernsey.

"We lost 4-1, but we literally gifted them three goals.

"Without two key players in Charlton Gauvain and Owen Wallbridge - who have both been really good ball carriers for us this season - I think you take those situations away and actually we would have had a good go at them.

"It was very similar to the other night when we played Chertsey and we gifted them five, but I think it just shows for me where we are."
