Guernsey FC suffered a third successive heavy home loss as a depleted side went down 5-0 to Hanworth Villa.

A large chunk of the squad were unavailable after being called up to the Guernsey FA side for Saturday's Muratti Vase semi-final in Alderney.

Sam Merson got a second-minute opener for eighth-placed Villa before scoring twice as the first half ended.

Sam Mead made it 4-0 after 62 minutes before Merson got his fourth goal with nine minutes left.

The Green Lions have now conceded 15 goals in their last three games - all at home - after losing 4-1 to third-placed Leatherhead on Saturday and 6-2 at home to leaders Chertsey Town last Wednesday.

Simon Arnold made his first start while Christian Povall and Alex Ward made just their second Guernsey FC appearances - and their home debuts - as Oscar Leadbeater played for just the fourth time.

The likes of Charlton Gauvain, Tom Dodds and Dave Merris did not play while in-form Matt Loaring came off eight minutes into the second half to be replaced by Brandon Wallace.

The loss sees Guernsey drop to 15th in Isthmian League South Central with 32 points from 32 games - they are 16 points clear of the relegation zone.
