'Poor' Guernsey FC lose heavily at home again after 4-2 Ascot United defeat

Guernsey FC boss Tony Vance described his side as 'poor' as they were beaten 4-2 at home by Ascot United.

The loss was the Green Lions' fifth successive defeat and the fourth home game in a row where they have let in at least four goals.

They have now conceded 19 goals in their last four home games.

This month also saw a 5-0 loss to Hanworth Villa after losing 4-1 to third-placed Leatherhead and 6-2 at home to leaders Chertsey Town.

"We were poor today, they wanted it more than us," Vance told BBC Radio Guernsey

"They were dominant and even technically we're normally really good, but the technical side of our game was so poor today as well.

"We couldn't get going because some decisions were tough to take and I think there were 14 people out there that were really poor today."

Chris Ellis gave the visitors a 10th-minute lead before Liam Tack made it 2-0 10 minutes later.

Tack got a third five minutes after the restart before Harry Tucker made it 4-0 just two minutes later with a superb long-range effort.

Sam Murray scored twice to make the score more respectable before Guernsey skipper Jamie Dodd was sent off deep in stoppage time to compound the hosts' misery.

Guernsey drop a place to 17th in Isthmian League South Central, but are 13 points clear of the relegation places.
